Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is books I hope Santa brings, I don’t celebrate Christmas, and my holiday has already come and gone. So just like last year, I had to come up with my own creative topic if I wanted to participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week. Sometimes I wash there was a little more … inclusivity around this time of year.
So instead, I decided to list some of the physical books that are sitting on my TBR shelf, glaring at me and basically demanding to be read. I’m hoping to get at least *some* of these read before the end of the year. I absolutely feel judged by this pile of books. Realistically, I’m not going to get to all 10 of these plus the two I’m reading and the ebooks I have on deck, but it couldn’t hurt to try, right?
- Vulpini by Meg Pelliccio (The Remnants of the Old Gods #1)
- The Archive of the Forgotten by A.J. Hackwith (Hell’s Library #2)
- Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim (The Blood of Stars #2)
- The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter (Will Trent #10)
- The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty (The Daevabad Trilogy #2)
- The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
- Winter of Ice and Iron by Rachel Neumeier
- Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #3.5)
- The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi (The Star-Touched Queen #1)
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
What books are you planning to read before the end of the year?

Wow, all of these look really awesome. Do you like fantasy fiction too? Vulpini looks really interesting, and so happy to see Rachel Neumeier here on this list. It’s a pity Neumeier’s works don’t get more attention, she’s such a great author. I’m off to check out some of these on Goodreads, happy TTT!

I love fantasy! It makes up the majority of what I read. I actually never heard of Rachel Neumeier, but the book was on display by the checkout at my library and it looked good so I borrowed it. I hope you like some and decide to read them too!

Sorry about that. Let’s try again. Does this work: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-bookish-things-i-hope-santa-brings/
I also meant to say that I wish for more inclusivity at this time of year, too. I don’t celebrate Christmas either.

Yes! This one works. It feels like everything revolves around Christmas and it’s a very lonely time.

Oh, I understand you so well. “The Goldfinch” is fantastic, you should start with that one. Happy Reading.
I have added some books I desperately want on my TTT.

Oh gosh, I’ve had The Goldfinch sitting unfinished on my shelf for two years now. I really need to get back to that book. I enjoyed it but I read it during the worst slump I’ve ever experienced and now every time I think about it I think back to that time and it makes me panicky 🤪 I really want to read the Hell’s Library and Daevabad Trilogy books! Hope you manage to get to some of these and happy reading, Leah! ❤️

I’ve read the first book in the Hell’s Library and Daevabad series and loved them, so I’m really excited about those. I actually got The Goldfinch for my mom, but she didn’t read it, so I figured I’d give it a go. Hopefully it’ll live up to all the hype!

“The Kingdom of Copper” is has the fastest pacing in the entire trilogy! Once you start reading it, you won’t be able to stop until you reach the end! And yes, the ending is insane!

This looks like a fun, genre diverse list. I hope you get to all of them. I’m hoping to read the last few books of Devney Perry’s Runaway series.

I’m glad you were able to make a new theme this week, but yeah … I also wish it was phrased to be more inclusive. But it looks like you have a great pile of books waiting on you, even if they are glaring. The Wife Between Us sounds awesome.

Yeah, that’s the problem with library books – they have that shiny laminated cover. Can’t do much about that. But thanks.
