Book Review

State of the ARC #1

State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.

This is normally to be posted at the end of the month, but my ARCs have been getting out of control. It seems like every time I made some progress on the backlog, I get approved for some more, keeping my ratio under 80%. So I figured that it was time to do something about it, and this could be a great way to keep myself accountable. Going forward, I’ll be posting my progress at the end of the month.

Without further ado, here is my current NetGalley TBR and a link to the Goodreads page for each book:

  1. The Light of the Midnight Stars by Rena Rossner
  2. Heart on a Leash by Alanna Martin
  3. Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler
  4. A Master of Djinn by P. Djèli Clark
  5. Happy Endings by Thien-Kim Lam
  6. That Thing About Bollywood by Supriya Kelkar
  7. The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren
  8. Joyful, Delicious, Vegan: Life Without Heart Disease by Sherra Aguirre
  9. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  10. The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu
  11. The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
  12. The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid
  13. The Doomsday Book of Fairy Tales by Emily Brewes
  14. Where It All Lands by Jennie Wexler
  15. Capture the Crown by Jennifer Estep
  16. Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian
  17. Small Favors by Erin A. Craig
  18. The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee
  19. All’s Well by Mona Awad
  20. Cazadora by Romina Garber
  21. Before We Were Blue by E.J. Schwartz
  22. Sisters of the Wolf by Patricia Miller-Schroeder

That’s my starting point, and I’ve already heard some really great things about a few of the books on this list. Hopefully this monthly accountability post will help me whittle down this intimidating list a little at a time. Wish me luck!

  1. Ok. Well. You’ve just raised my TBR pile higher before you’ve even reviewed the books! 😄 Fairy tales, bisexual love triangles, witches vs. climate change, *and* Jean Auel read-a-likes? This is going to be a good year.
