It’s almost Halloween and that means it’s almost time to see some werewolves and vampires. What are some books that you’ve enjoyed that feature vampires or werewolves?

I had to think quite a bit for this one, and I already knew that I didn’t want to take the easy route and pick anything from the Twilight series. Last year, I tried to reread them, and couldn’t make it past the second book. I gave up, and instead found some really awesome books about vampires and werewolves that I thoroughly enjoyed. Here are some highlights:

• Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice — this was the first book about vampires that I can remember reading, and I intensely loved this series as a teenager.
• Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas — I really loved Danika and her pack.
• A Violet Fire by Kelsey Quick — I haven’t read a really good vampire story that was written recently, until this one. It was so good, and the next book seriously needs to come out soon!
• Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris — this one is kind of a crossover series, since it has both vampires and shapeshifters. You may be more familiar with the show based off these books, True Blood, but I liked both.
• Lobizona by Romina Garber — a fantastic series featuring werewolves and witches that hail from Argentina, but it’s so much more than that. 
• Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater — yeah, it’s about werewolves, but there’s also no shortage of romance. It was such a great series!
• City of Bones by Cassandra Clare — another crossover series, with vampires and werewolves and all kinds of other fantastical creatures that I enjoy reading about.
