Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – 2021 Releases I Was Excited To Read But Didn’t Get To

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

2021 was an amazing year for books, with an incredible number of really good books that were released. And while I read a lot of them, there were some that were on my TBR list that I just couldn’t get around to reading in time. Naturally, they’ve carried over into my 2022 reading list, and I’ll hopefully get to read a good number of them this year. Here they are:

  1. Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
  2. The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
  3. The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni
  4. Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala
  5. Ace of Spades by Farida Abiké-Íyimidé
  6. Sisters of the Snake by Sarena & Sasha Nano
  7. She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan
  8. These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
  9. Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
  10. Year of the Reaper by Makiia Lucier

Have you read any of these? Which 2021 releases were you hoping to read, but didn’t?

  1. You have got to read Amari and the Night Brothers! It’s such a great story. When you get the chance to read The Witch’s Heart, I suggest the audiobook as there are a lot of Norse names that may trip you up when reading (I know they would me). I ended up DNF Ace fo Spades; I struggled to get into it. I hope to read Arsenic and Adobo soon.

  2. I want to read several of the books on your list. Amari and The Witch’s Heart especially. I really enjoyed the first in Mia P. Manansala’s series and hope to read the second book at some point this year. I hope you will enjoy Arsenic and Adobo too!

  3. “Amari,” “Ace of Spades,” and “Year of the Reaper” are some books on my “Missed 2021 Reads,” too. There are so many books, we have to look over each other’s blogs to recall what we missed!
