TTT – Books I’d Want Stranded With Me On A Deserted Island

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island – is this a dream? Being stranded with no one to interrupt me, surrounded by books? I’m going with series this week. Because I happen to love series, and with the way I read, I already know that ten books isn’t going to last me very long on a deserted island.

  1. Earth’s Children by Jean M. Auel — if I’m stranded someplace, I don’t know the first thing about anything. This book is basically a handbook for how to live off the land. I’m going to need this series to make it for more than a couple of days!
  2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas — this is a nice long series, and I’m 100% sure that there are plenty of things I missed the first time around. I can easily see myself diving right back into this series.
  3. The Shadowhunters series by Cassandra Clare — I love these books, although they’re such easy reads. I’d love to go back through them and give them a reread.
  4. The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi — with the last book coming out in September, what better time to read through the whole series? Without anyone to disturb me!
  5. The Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo — how could I skip this series? Now that I’ve read it all through once, I would absolutely have to go through it all over again.
  6. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin — yeah, I know this *still* isn’t done (grumbles loudly) but … I’ve read these books so many times over the years, and still manage to pick up on something new every time. I kind of feel like at this point in time, writing my own fanfic of an ending would be faster than waiting for the author himself to do anything with them.
  7. The Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown — man, I love these books. Even if the series isn’t finished yet, I can already tell that these are the kind of books I can reread multiple times.
  8. Kingsbridge by Ken Follett — if I’m staying on a deserted island for a long time, I’m going to need some long books to keep me occupied. And although I’ve only read the first super-long book in this series, this is definitely one that I’m enjoying.
  9. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon — there’s no way I could skip out on the romance in this series! I love these books (plus they’re also super long) so they’re coming with me.
  10. The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich — I love Stephanie’s sassy attitude and the hilarious situations that occur in these stories! She’s got to join me on this deserted island for some comic relief.

What about you guys? Which books or series would you pick?

  1. Outlander made my list, as well. But only the first book since I went the literal route. Ha! I’ve reread The Infernal Devices multiple times but I’ve never reread The Mortal Instruments. And it would be good because there are so many books. 😉
