Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – April Showers

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

Happy Tuesday and second day of April! This week’s prompt is April Showers and we get to pick our own direction for this prompt. Some ideas we were given are books with rain on the cover/in the title, that have rainstorms in the story, or that have anything to do with rain. While I really do love rainstorms and rain, it’s kind of hard to find books that have anything to do with rain, but I’m going to try to find books featuring rain on the cover or in the title:

  1. Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas. When thinking of books that fit this prompt, this was the first that came to mind.
  2. The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton. This book features a world ravaged by climate change, and centers on the experience of one particular girl born during a hurricane.
  3. The Guest List by Lucy Foley. There’s rain on the cover of the book, and it also played a huge role in the story.
  4. Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon. Between the title of the book and the setting, plus the fact that it’s set in Seattle, it’s basically made for this prompt.
  5. Drizzle, Dreams, and Lovestruck Things by Maya Prasad. Another book that is practically tailor-made for this prompt.
  6. The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. The rain on the cover of the book is matched by storms and rain in the story.
  7. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. One of my favorite part of rain is thunderstorms. And that’s on display in the title and the cover art of this wonderful book.
  8. Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. Another book with “storm” in the title, making me think of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, and time to curl up with a good book.
  9. A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin. Okay, so not exactly the type of storm I’ll be expecting in April, but it’s getting tough to reach ten.
  10. Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig. This one has nothing to do with rain, but it does feature mist, which is just another type of precipitation (yes, I am reaching here, but I ran out of ideas for rain and storms).

What are some books featuring rain (or storms or mist) that you love? Have you read any of mine?

  1. I’ve heard a lot about that novel by Lucy, but don’t know if it’d be one I’d enjoy. Weather Girl too is one I see making the list rounds. It looks so dang cute. 🙂

    • Weather Girl was seriously adorable, and I just fell in love with everything about that whole story! Lucy’s book is one of those where it’s polarizing, people either love it or hate it.

    • That’s one of the things that drew me to the book, and I loved how there was a different romance for each sister in each different season. It was a really cute story, and I hope you enjoy it.

    • Thank you! I haven’t done a reread of the series since the last book came out more than a decade ago. I’ve kind of given up on the series ever having any more books coming out.
