Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
So far, I’ve had a bang-up year for getting my hands on books. Reading them, however, is a completely different activity. This week’s prompt actually feels like it was made for me, since it is about books I was super excited to get my hands on but still haven’t read. My list is going to include books that I have pre-ordered, books that I got at library sales or the thrift shop, great finds on Pango (click here to get $5 off your first purchase), and gifts from my incredible friends. So here are ten books that I was thrilled to get my hands on, but still haven’t read:

- Fairy Tale by Stephen King. Sorry Kim, I know you (and everyone else in the bookish world) told me how great it was and how much I’d love it, but I still haven’t gotten to it.
- The Bone Weaver by Aden Polydoros. I’ve really loved all of his other books that I’ve read, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one … so it could sit on my shelf and stare at me.
- House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas. I just didn’t have enough time to reread the earlier books in time, so this one has been waiting for me to get to it.
- The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo. I cannot wait to read this one, yet have not made any time to do so.
- Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer. Her books are so great, and I love the Jewish representation. I moved it close to my bed, so hopefully I’ll read it soon.
- Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. This one also hasn’t gotten read because I didn’t have time to read all the earlier books and refresh myself on the story so far.
- Night of the Witch by Sara Raasch and Beth Revis. I was so excited when I got this in the mail from my friend Kristy, but still haven’t read it.
- House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson. I enjoy her writing, and couldn’t wait to get this, yet still haven’t read it. It’s one of the books that have been on my shelves the longest.
- The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons. I’ve heard about this from so many people, and have taken flak for owning it and still not reading it.
- Ayuni by Sarah Ansbacher. This book caught my eye so long ago, and I received it as a gift. It isn’t long, but I haven’t found the time yet.
What are some books that you were super excited to get your hands on but still haven’t read? Have you read any of these?

I have the first two Crescent City books on my shelf. They are just so large that I don’t have that sort of time at the moment. The thing is that I loved ACOTAR so I had to get them 🤣
Have a great week!

They’re so good! But I agree, they take such a time investment to read. I can do the first two rereads as audiobooks, but you know they were all checked out, and I just didn’t have time for those, even. Here’s to getting around to them whenever we can block out a month 🤣

🤣 I just look at them and my heart sinks 🤣 anything over 300 pages 🤣 maybe block a month and a bit 🤣

I hadn’t heard of that King novel, actually! Will look into it. I had to go through my amazon order history to find titles, since so many of them are Kindles. My list is here! 🙂

It was really popular last year or so, and it’s more fantasy-leaning than his other books. I didn’t even delve into my kindle books for this list – the biggest problem I had was limiting myself to just ten books.

House of Hunger is still on my TBR list, too.

It looks like such a great read! Whichever one of us reads it first has to come and tell the other how it is, deal?

I hope you are able to get to some of these books soon.

Leah, we still need to set up our Buddy Read for The Familiar & I also have The Ruin of Kings on my TBR, so maybe a future buddy read for that one as well…

Well I know two books that made your list this week! 🤣 Yes, we should absolutely set up buddy reads for those two! But I’m going to be strict for The Familiar and demand that you don’t read ahead in that one, because we have to experience it all together.

Hahaha you read ahead one time… 😂😂. I promise I won’t because I agree & think it’s going to be a book we need to regularly chat about!

Okay, that sounds like something I’d do, so we’re even and I won’t give you any more flak for this. But I have a feeling we’re going to have so much to discuss and lots of theories!

I was excited to preorder The Sun and the Star last year and even more excited when it arrived on my doorstep. So why is it still sitting on my bookshelf unread? I hope you enjoy reading all of these when you get the chance.

Why are we like this? Buying books and reading them are two completely different hobbies.

The Familiar is on my list this week too. It sounds so good, and I love the author, so I don’t know why I haven’t started it yet. I hope you get a chance to read all of these soon. Leah!

I preordered it and have absolutely no excuse for not reading it. At least I have a tentative buddy read set up for it! And we’ve gotta schedule our next buddy read soon!

Ha ha. Same. I’m excellent at acquiring lots of books, not so great at actually reading them. I’m glad I’m not alone!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

LOL you certainly aren’t alone, and this week’s posts should back that up! The hardest part of making this week’s post was narrowing my list down to *just* ten books out of the many on my shelves.
