State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.
I finished September with 15 ARCs left to be read.
I’m shocked at how quickly October flew by. I love the colder temps, the crunching of leaves, even walking outside and noticing the smell of woodsmoke in the air. So much happened during the month, from having my sister come to visit from out of state, spending the holidays with family, and enjoying the slower pace that makes life feel easier even if things are still pretty overwhelming.
With our weeks not so packed with medical appointments, Mom and I have had a little bit of downtime. She had some health issues this year, but luckily they’re all being treated pretty well. On the other hand, my health issues aren’t going as well. I’m still struggling with some pretty uncomfortable symptoms and working with the doctors on getting a diagnosis so that I can get these issues figured out and managing. However, this has been kind of tough, especially since I’ve been dealing with these symptoms for quite some time and tried a few different treatments with no noticeable effect.
As much progress as I made on my NG ARCs last month, I didn’t get through as many as I was hoping to review. I also went on a bit of a requesting spree, and finally caught up on my emails about ARCs, so I ended up getting approved for a bunch of new ones. Unfortunately this means that I wound up with a lot more ARCs to read, and not always enough time to get to them. Why do I keep doing this to myself? Anyone else feel this way too?
My ratio has been yo-yoing between 96% and 97%, which is still really great, so I have no complaints about that. The two ARCs that I finished and reviewed were fantastic, and I am so looking forward to getting to more of these in November. Hopefully, I’ll be able to take advantage of the slower month to catch up on my ARCs that are now late.
