Fae Friday – Music

Fae Friday is an awesome new weekly post created by Kristy at Caffeinated Fae. I’m super excited to participate in this (and to have been an avid supporter of it from the beginning)! A topic is provided each week, and Kristy is so welcoming to ideas from others. If you have any ideas for topics, reach out to her through her blog or on Twitter (@caffeinatedfae).

Here’s the rules:

  • Link back to this page on Caffeinated Fae.
  • If the prompt idea comes from another blog, link to that blog as well.
  • Use #FaeFriday when posting to social media so we can all find each other!
  • Participate when you can and have fun with the prompt!

Music is something that faeries are known to enjoy. That is why this week’s prompt is: what kind of music do you listen to when reading?

I love a lot of different types of music, but generally do not listen to music when I’m reading. However, if I do actually listen to music while I’m reading, it’s really relaxing music like Mazzy Star or Zero 7 – stuff that kind of fades into the backgroun and doesn’t distract me from what I’m reading. This was the kind of music I’d always listen to while studying, too.

What about you? Music while reading? And what kind if you do?

  1. Ooh, Zero 7 is a good one! I also don’t often listen to music while reading, but when I do it’s also usually relaxing tunes. Jazzy romance works well for me but also classic! There’s one YouTube playlist that I usually turn on and it’s great (even for working)! Lol great post!

  2. I usually don’t listen and read because my ipod would be upstairs while I would be reading downstairs…and I just am way to into the book (also just a little too lazy) to go get my ipod…so I don’t usually. But on the occasion I do, I usually listen to movie soundtrack or Brunuhville songs. It usually helps “teleport” me sometimes if the music is fitting to the setting and event of the book. Nice post, Leah! I love Fae Fridays! xoxo

  3. Good band choices! I’ve made a bunch of book-related playlists on Spotify (I’m NeriSiren there, too), but I’m like you with actually listening while reading. It has to be something either turned down enough or just instrumental. So far, the best actually-reading playlists I’ve found were a pair of eerie carnival-themed ones. They go so well with carnival ghost stories! It actually makes the experience spookier.
