Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is about secondary or minor characters that I think deserve more love. Or in my case, maybe not necessarily love, but at least more attention.
- Madoc from The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black — clearly this says a lot about me, but I was always so curious about what made Madoc the way he was, and what he was thinking.
- Sadie from Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus — in a story where everyone has secrets, I wanted to learn more about Sadie. She has such a major impact on the main characters, and we don’t really get to know very much about her at all.
- Raikama from Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim — I loved this book, and there’s so much to the story. Right from the start, I wanted to learn more about Raikama.
- Maeven from the Crown of Shards series by Jennifer Estep — there’s just something about a villain that immediately makes me want to find out what they’re thinking. And who is more villainous than Maeven? Like, what makes this bitch tick?
- Grey from House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland — in a book with so many layers of mystery, Grey was the one character that I wanted to learn more about. She was definitely one of the most mysterious characters in the story.
- Ian from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon — While there are so many characters that I was interested in, Ian was definitely one of my favorites. I want to learn more of his story!
- Sevro from the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown — come on, like you didn’t see this coming. While I wasn’t sure what to make of him when he first appeared, he quickly worked his way right into my heart.
- Jane and Niko from One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston — I would read an entire book from Jane’s POV, all about her experiences at literally any point in her life, and I wanted to learn so much more about Niko.
- Siti from A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark — Siti caught my attention early on, and held it. I wanted to hear more about her, so hopefully there’s a short-story from her POV in the works.
- Kitay from The Poppy War series by R.F. Kuang — he was one of my favorite characters throughout the series. Even though he was more of a major character, I still wouldn’t have minded an entire book devoted to him.
What do you think? What are some secondary or minor characters that need a little more attention or love in your opinion?

I’ve only read Poppy War from the books on your list and to tell you the truth I wasn’t a big fan of the story. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/ten-book-to-movie-adaptations-i-want-to-watch/

Aww, I can definitely see how it might not be for everyone. But I absolutely loved the series.

Great list! I twisted the topic some, as I have trouble remembering secondary characters.

Ian from Outlander! Yes, how could I have forgotten him?? And I haven’t started Estep’s new series yet (some sort of Urban Fantasy overdose symptoms), but your post makes me want to try that after all. 🙂

Ian was my favorite side character! I think he at least should get a novella of his own, since his stories are so interesting. And I have some weird thing about wanting to get inside the head of villains!

Thank you! I was curious about her from the start, but my curiosity just grew as I got further into the book.

I’ve read OUTLANDER, but it’s been so long that I don’t remember who any of the characters are! Yikes. I need to re-read it and then move on with the series.
Happy TTT!

I am not at all proud to say that I haven’t read any of these books, but they do sound delightful and quite a few of them are on my TBR. Hope to pick ’em up soon, great list, Leah!!

two can keep a secret was one of my favorite reads and I whole heartedly agree with Sadie.
