Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s original prompt was “hilarious book titles,” but I don’t usually read a lot of books with hilarious titles. Instead, I’m pulling out a topic I saw recently that I’ve been saving for a rainy day. Kristin @ Kristin Kraves Books came up with NetGalley rejections that broke my heart, and I’ve gotten so many that it’s going to be hard to limit myself to ten, but here are the ten most recent rejections that stung the most:

- Lord of the Fly Fest by Goldy Moldavsky
- The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling
- Bone Weaver by Aden Polydoros
- The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore
- House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson
- Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo
- The Rewind by Allison Winn Scotch
- All the Blood We Share by Camilla Bruce
- We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds
- The Poison Season by Mara Rutherford
What are some NetGalley rejections that crushed you?

I tweaked the topic this week, too. I enjoyed your list. I tweaked my TTT list this week

I can’t think of any that have crushed me. There have been a few that confused me with the reasoning. I’m more likely to get excited over the books I’ve been approved for.

There’s just some that I want so desperately that it breaks my heart when I get denied.

I feel that pain – but for Blog Tours. To rub it in you then see all the posts of the people that have successfully got onto that Tour!! I can’t complain too much though as I have managed to get onto a lot of Tours!
I have only requested one book from Netgalley and it is still pending. I expect that I will get rejected as I haven’t asked for one before!
Have a great week!

Aww, that’s the worst! I don’t do a lot of blog tours, but I do request on NetGalley more often than not.

It is. I am on the Facebook group so get to see them all!! I am slowing down on Blog Tours, but still have two a month…I shall see what happens with NetGalley

Yes! I would read that!

I’ll save that for my next TTT where I switch up the topic! Thanks for the idea!

I desperately wanted The Dark Archive, part of Genevieve Cogman’s Invisible Library series. Alas, Berkley crushed my hopes and turned me down.

I really have to start the Invisible Library series – it’s been on my TBR for a while now.

We took a vote at our house, and we think it would be a great series to adapt to the screen! Probably a series rather than a movie. Too much good stuff for a movie.
I hope you get to read it and love it!

I’m so curious about House of Hunger. It seems like a wonderful Halloween or winter read. (I like reading scary stuff on blustery, snowy days). 🙂

Yes! The perfect Halloween read. And I loved Alexis Henderson’s other book.

SAY WHAT?! How did YOU get rejected for these titles?! I mean, I got rejected for most of the titles on this list, but YOU got rejected for ALL OF THEM?! YIKES!!!

I saw her post last week and thought it was a great topic! Honestly, I hate rejection so I try not to request anything that I don’t think I’ll be approved for. Hahahaha.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

First, this is a great post idea…could be fun to do quarterly. Second, uh, I’m surprised you got rejected for all these…you review…A LOT! I really, really hoped to get approved for THE WITCH AND THE TSAR, but instead got denied. HOUSE OF HUNGER I recently gave up on and withdrew my request. It seems like Berkley is a bit stingy with the approvals compared to other major publishers I’ve ARC reviewed for. And this was after I’d raised my feedback ratio to the mid-70s. To be honest I was a bit surprised since I had reviewed for them earlier this year & gave that particular book 5 stars. C’est la vie! Plenty of other good books to read, though!

This really is such a great topic idea – I’ll definitely be revisiting it. And I don’t get approved by Berkeley often even with a ratio in the low 90s! But fortunately other publishers approve me pretty regularly.

I borrowed this idea from you for my list this week. It’s always a bummer to get rejected for a NetGalley request.

This prompt makes me laugh! I’ve been rejected for tons of ARCs on NetGalley and Edelweiss and it always stings a bit. Ha ha.
Happy TTT!

Don’t even get me started on edelweiss- those rejections don’t crush me because I have never gotten approved on there for anything!

Really? They do seem more strict, but sometimes I get approved for books on Edelweiss that I don’t on NG and vice versa. Who knows??

I’ve never gotten a single EW approval. 🤷🏻♀️

I bet these hurt. I’m sorry you weren’t approved. I guess you can read them when they come out, right?

This is such a good idea! May have to try this myself at some point, but there are so many! Two of the first rejections I got that I was really gutted about were The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with this topic when I saw another blogger come up with it! It’s so tough to get rejected for books we really want. I’ve heard great things about both of those – they’re on my TBR.

It really is, especially when it’s one you see on there and get really excited about!
