TTT – NetGalley Rejections That Crushed Me

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

This week’s original prompt was “hilarious book titles,” but I don’t usually read a lot of books with hilarious titles. Instead, I’m pulling out a topic I saw recently that I’ve been saving for a rainy day. Kristin @ Kristin Kraves Books came up with NetGalley rejections that broke my heart, and I’ve gotten so many that it’s going to be hard to limit myself to ten, but here are the ten most recent rejections that stung the most:

  1. Lord of the Fly Fest by Goldy Moldavsky
  2. The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling
  3. Bone Weaver by Aden Polydoros
  4. The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore
  5. House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson
  6. Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo
  7. The Rewind by Allison Winn Scotch
  8. All the Blood We Share by Camilla Bruce
  9. We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds
  10. The Poison Season by Mara Rutherford

What are some NetGalley rejections that crushed you?

  1. I feel that pain – but for Blog Tours. To rub it in you then see all the posts of the people that have successfully got onto that Tour!! I can’t complain too much though as I have managed to get onto a lot of Tours!

I have only requested one book from Netgalley and it is still pending. I expect that I will get rejected as I haven’t asked for one before!

    Have a great week!

  2. First, this is a great post idea…could be fun to do quarterly. Second, uh, I’m surprised you got rejected for all these…you review…A LOT! I really, really hoped to get approved for THE WITCH AND THE TSAR, but instead got denied. HOUSE OF HUNGER I recently gave up on and withdrew my request. It seems like Berkley is a bit stingy with the approvals compared to other major publishers I’ve ARC reviewed for. And this was after I’d raised my feedback ratio to the mid-70s. To be honest I was a bit surprised since I had reviewed for them earlier this year & gave that particular book 5 stars. C’est la vie! Plenty of other good books to read, though!

    • This really is such a great topic idea – I’ll definitely be revisiting it. And I don’t get approved by Berkeley often even with a ratio in the low 90s! But fortunately other publishers approve me pretty regularly.

  3. This is such a good idea! May have to try this myself at some point, but there are so many! Two of the first rejections I got that I was really gutted about were The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
