Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is all about indie/self-published books, and it was submitted by Nicole @ BookWyrm Knits. Unfortunately, it’s a tough prompt for me. As a disabled person who doesn’t have a lot of income, I rely on the library, NetGalley, and ARCs from a publisher for the majority of my reading material. So I don’t read nearly enough indie/self-published books as I’d like to. However, I’ve been fortunate to come across some really amazing books that are indie/self-published. Here are some of my favorites:

- Ten Years Gone by Jonathan Dunsky
- The Pomegranate by S.J. Schwaidelson
- Speechless by Lindsey Lanza
- The Mountain of Souls by Marcus Lee
- The Witches of Escazú (and other Jewish Fairy Tales) by Roots Metals
- Honey and the Hitman by Hannah Murray
- The Lost Legends by Cait Marie
- Hook/Lost in Darkness by Gina L. Maxwell
- Desperate Measures by Katee Robert
What are some of your favorites?

I too am a library user which is why I know next to nothing about books in these categories.

I wish there were more indie books in libraries, even if it was ebooks or audiobooks!

That is one of my favorites on the list! Dunsky is an amazing author, I highly recommend that one.

I think most of the independently published books I’ve read are because of NetGalley. It’s a great way for small publishers to get their books out there.

Definitely! Most of mine have come through connecting with the authors directly on social media, and I’ve found some really incredible authors out there this way!

Thank goodness for the library! I wouldn’t be able to read much either without it. 🙂

I am so grateful to have access to a good library!

Robert is a fun author an Maxwell is one I have been meaning to try. I have found that my library will purchase indie published e-books when I request them sometimes.

Maxwell is on the verge between indie and trad – she just crossed over into traditional with The Dark King and has a sequel, The Rebel King, coming out soon. But my library has a bunch of her indie books available too! She’s amazing, and I highly recommend literally any one of her books.

Speechless looks like a great read, I’ll have to pick that one up.

Speechless was such a sweet and meaningful romance, and it was written by a bookstagrammer, so it’s also supporting the bookish community!

One of my favorite indie authors is S. Usher Evans. Epic fantasy, urban fantasy, sci-fi, cozy fantasy, I love them all.

I’ve never heard of that author, but I’ll definitely be checking them out. I love people who read diverse genres – I can’t stick to just one or two genres myself.
