Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – Books That Sound Like Summer

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

Here in New York, temps are heating up, and it’s starting to feel a little more like summer. And it’s just in time for this week’s prompt. We were given a lot of leeway this week, with the overly vague “covers that feel/look like summer,” and I decided to go with books that have a word in the title that is either summer or summer-adjacent. So many of my favorite summer memories took place around the water—whether it was the beach, the lake, or a pool, so I took that and ran with it. Here’s what I was able to come up with:

  1. The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel
  2. Foxglove Summer by Ben Aaronovitch
  3. The 99 Boyfriends of Micah Summers by Adam Sass
  4. Beach Read by Emily Henry
  5. Jerusalem Beach: Stories by Iddo Gefen
  6. Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler
  7. Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
  8. Chlorine by Jade Song
  9. River Woman, River Demon by Jennifer Givhan
  10. Dead Water by C.A. Fletcher

What are some of your favorite books that have a summery term in the title?

  1. I went with a water theme, too. It seems like a lot of summer activities just have to do with staying cool! That’s a necessity here in Arizona where it’s hot as Hades. We use our pool most days in the summer, although come about August it starts to feel like you’re swimming in bathwater, which isn’t exactly refreshing. Ha ha. Some people here actually have water coolers for their pools so the water stays cold despite being boiled in the sun all day.

    Happy TTT!

    • Wow, I certainly do not envy you out there in the heat of Arizona! I never knew about water coolers – all we have around here is water heaters haha. Summer just seems to go hand in hand with activities near or in the water.
