Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s prompt is secondary/minor characters who deserve their own book. It’s a wonderful prompt, because while main characters are what keep us reading, it’s the side characters who can make or break a book sometimes. Here are some of my favorite side characters who I think deserve their own book:

- Sevro from Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Howlers unite, because this rough, crude little gremlin of a character is hands down my favorite of all the side characters. I’m kind of curious to see what goes on inside his head, but also kind of scared, especially as the series goes on.
- Priya from The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu. How can I not love a whip smart woman who never lets her wheelchair stop her from pulling out some incredibly cool stunts to save the day? She helps make this series amazing.
- Ragne from Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. This book wouldn’t have been what it was for me if Ragne wasn’t in it, because she contributed so much to the story, but she’s also a fascinating character in her own right.
- Beq from Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler. All of the characters are so intriguing in this story, but I always wondered about Beq. I’d love the chance to learn more about her in her own book. And I wouldn’t mind getting to revisit this world either.
- Mari from The Bladed Faith by David Dalglish. I love all the characters in this series, but there’s just something about Mari that I love especially. I would love to see more through her eyes, and I have my fingers crossed for the last book!
- Hannah from The 99 Boyfriends of Micah Summers by Adam Sass. She was such a cool side character and an awesome best friend, but I felt like she deserved her own story too!
- Vero from Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano. Okay, so I seriously love this series, but I also want to get a peek inside Vero’s head! She’s got so much going on, and I want to know more.
- Ashe from The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso. I’m curious about all of the Rookery characters, but especially Ashe. She’s tough yet cares deeply about all of the people in her circle, and that’s a character that I want to read a story all about.
- Qayn from The Spice Road by Maiya Ibrahim. A handsome, roguish djinni is the kind of character I love to read a book about, especially after reading about him in this book.
- Avery from Hex Appeal by Kate Johnson. Avery pops up in this book and the next in the series, and each time they appear, it only makes me more curious about them and their life. I’d love to see Avery get their own book, so I’ve got my fingers crossed for book 3!
Who are your favorite side characters that you think deserve a book of their own?
