Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
Hello, and welcome back to reality. It doesn’t exactly feel like reality though, does it? This is the time of year where I just spend a week mostly wearing pajamas, eating cheese, and wondering what day of the week it is. And I’m not even a cheese person. But I do know that today is Tuesday, and this week’s prompt is the ten most recent additions to my bookshelf. And I’m excited, because I actually have some recent additions to share this year!
While I regret to inform you that my family has not quite hopped on the ‘buying books for Leah’ bandwagon, I’ve been obtaining some new books myself, and did receive a few book gifts from others. My friend introduced me to Pango Books, where you can buy used books from other readers, and I loved it so much I became an ambassador. If you’re interested in using Pango, you can use my link here. Unfortunately, all of the books I’ve gotten on Pango were featured in a recent TTT post (books on my winter 2023-2024 TBR), so I’m going to talk about some of the physical ARCs I’ve received lately. Without further ado, here are my ten most recent book acquisitions:

- Ayuni by Sarah Ansbacher. This was gifted to me by Nicky @ The Bibliophibian. If you haven’t checked out her page, you seriously should. Thanks Nicky! Goodreads | Amazon
- When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb. This was gifted to me by YA Books Central, as a holiday gift for my work with them over the last year. You can check out their website here. Goodreads | Amazon
- The Boy with the Star Tattoo by Talia Corner. After seeing this book get review-bombed, I asked the publisher if they’d send me a copy to review. And they did! Goodreads | Amazon
- The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert. Here’s another one from YA Books Central, and I just couldn’t resist an Albert book on offer. Goodreads | Amazon
- Fathomfolk by Eliza Chan. Aside from the gorgeous cover, the story sounds amazing, so I was glad to be able to get an ARC of this one. Goodreads | Amazon
- Mirage by Somaiya Daud. I’ve had this one on my TBR forever, so when I came across an English copy in Germany at the right price, I had to get it. Goodreads | Amazon
- Confession with Blue Horses by Sophie Hardach. When I went to Europe earlier this year, I wanted to get a book that I wouldn’t be able to get easily in the US, and this looked like a good one, so it came home with me. Goodreads | Amazon
- The Door by Magda Szabó. When you come across a book written by Hungary’s foremost female novelist while you are in Hungary, you obviously get it, right? Well, that’s what I did. Plus, I figured it’s unlikely I’d ever find this book in my local bookstore. Goodreads | Amazon
- The Vanishing Year by Kate Moretti. I dropped off a bunch of books at one of those ‘leave some books, take some books” kind of places, so I took this one because it looked really interesting. Goodreads | Amazon
- An Unorthodox Match by Naomi Ragen. To no one’s surprise, since October 7th, I find myself drawn to buying and reading more books by Jewish authors, so this one called to me. Goodreads | Amazon
Do we have any additions in common? Have you read any of these? Are you a cheese person?

I hope you enjoy all of these! I don’t think any of them are familiar to me, but that’s part of the fun of visiting these lists. Discovering some possible new reads. 🙂 Plus, it’s just fun to show off some recent additions.

Absolutely! I love hopping around to all the other blogs and finding books I’ve never heard of before. That was part of the appeal of shopping for books in Europe – I knew that I was coming across books I wouldn’t easily find at home. And yes, showing off my pretty new acquisitions is always a plus!

I have read Mirage years and years ago, and thought it was okay. However, I never got around to picking up the sequel. I hope you’ll enjoy all these books!

I have to say, all these covers look so great and are so attention-getting! Even The Door, maybe because it stands out among the others. I hope you enjoy your books!

Thank you! I always fall for an attention-grabbing cover. I think The Door stuck out to me because the cover is so stark, especially compared to the covers I’m usually drawn to.

I’m not familiar with any of these books but I hope you enjoy them when you read them. I like cheese but only in small amounts unless it’s used in a dish, then bring on all the cheese!

Thank you! I’m actually pretty fussy about cheese – don’t usually eat it, or at least don’t go out of my way to eat it, but if it’s in a dish I’m like you, bring it on!

I’m definitely a cheese person 😀 I haven’t read any of these, nor do I have any of them, but I’ve gotta say Pango sounds cool! I’ll check it out.

Ooooh! The Fathom Folk’s cover is gorgeous. I’m definitely adding that to my TBR. I hope you enjoy reading all of these!

Thank you! Yes, Fathomfolk has such a beautiful cover – that alone made me want a copy for my shelves, but I’m excited that the story seems just as good! Lets hope that we both enjoy it!

Your family definitely needs to get on board! Until then, you’ll just have to take care of things yourself. That’s what I do. LOL. I hope you enjoy all these!
