TTT – Bookish Goals For 2024

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

This week’s prompt is bookish goals for 2024, and I have to be honest here. While I’ve set a lot of goals in previous years, this year I didn’t actually set any bookish goals. I didn’t join any bookish challenges, and just wanted to let myself get back to a point where reading feels less like a task I need to complete and more of a fun activity that I want to engage in to relax. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still some basic things that I started doing last year that I still want to do this year, but they’ve kind of become habit at this point. I’m going to list them anyway, to avoid having the most boring TTT post in the history of TTT. Here’s some of my bookish intentions for 2024:

  1. Read nonfiction books—last year I tried to read more nonfiction books, and I realized that I was starting to enjoy them, so this is something I plan to continue to do this year.
  2. Incorporate diverse authors and stories—actively working to add books by authors from various backgrounds and ways of life really wasn’t hard, and it led to me discovering some of the most fantastic stories that I’ve read. This is another intention that I plan to continue doing, plus it’ll hopefully get the industry to encourage further diversity.
  3. Read from different genres—while I tend to stick to a few genres, I branched out a little and tried to include at least one of my non-comfort zone genres each month. Sometimes it worked out well, and other times not so much, but I like broadening my horizons, and plan to try to keep this one ongoing too.

What are your bookish goals for 2024?

    • Reading diverse books has taught me so much and been such an enjoyable experience for the most part that I think that’s going to be one of those standard goals that I add on every year without even thinking about it.

  1. Great goals. While I didn’t put read more non-fiction books on my list, it is something I want to do more of. Good luck with these.

    • Thank you! I started intentionally reading more of it last year, and discovered that some authors really have a great way with writing, and can make topics sound so exciting that I’m on the edge of my seat.

    • Thank you! Last year turned out to be a really stressful one, and I think the reading goals on top of everything just wound up being a little too much pressure that I put on myself. This year I decided to go easier on myself and it’s going well so far! Happy TTT back to you on a Friday!
