Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
Wow, winter flew by, since it’s already time for a top ten post on books on my Spring 2024 TBR. I figured I should probably check in on how I did with the books that were listed on my Winter 2023-2024 TBR, and as I look at it, I realize that I wasn’t as successful as I had hoped.

- Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. Nope.
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Nope.
- Season of Love by Helena Greer. Nope.
- Bone Weaver by Aden Polydoros. I read this one!!!
- Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer. Nope.
- The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish. Nope.
- Empire of Wild by Cherie Dimaline. Nope.
- The Ghosts of Rose Hill by R.M. Romero. Nope.
- Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. Nope.
- The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman. Nope.
I’ve really been focusing on getting through all of my ARCs, some of which are overdue, so I haven’t really had as much time to focus on reading for pleasure yet, but that is a definite goal of mine this year. Hopefully I’ll get to do more reading for enjoyment rather than working off an ARC list, and I’ve really been trying to incorporate different options into my reading. Here’s the top ten books on my Spring 2024 TBR list:

- Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. This one is staying on my list, because I really want to read it.
- House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas. This one is an obvious choice.
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I have a buddy read planned for this, just have to find the time to read it.
- Empire of Wild by Cherie Dimaline. It still sounds fascinating, and I can’t wait to read it.
- The Ghosts of Rose Hill by R.M. Romero. Still want to read this one.
- The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman. I’ve wanted to read this one more and more since I got it.
- Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. This came on a great recognition from a friend, and I found it in a used book sale for super cheap!
- Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. Still want to read this one.
- Fairy Tale by Stephen King. A good friend gifted this to me, and I seriously want to start it.
- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. This has been on my TBR forever, and I want it to stop glaring at me accusingly from my shelf.
What are some books on your Spring 2024 TBR? Do we have any in common?

I’ve heard a lot about Jodi Picoult’s novels, but never read any (may be an author I need to learn more about) and I read ‘Nina Hill’ a few years ago. Books about bookish people always catch my eye. 🙂 Happy spring TBR-ing!

I read one of Jodi Picoult’s novels a few years ago, and it was really good, but I’ve heard great things about this one from a friend I trust. And Nina Hill is one that I’m really looking forward to.

So many great choices on both your winter and spring lists! Even though you didn’t get to them, Season of Love and Kissing Kosher both look incredibly sweet. Adding them to my TBR pile for when I need a good holiday pick-me-up.

Thank you! I’m planning to read both of those for this year’s holiday season. And if I can get through my current group of ARCs, I’ll be able to read more books for pleasure.

I hate to admit it but your confession about not getting to your winter list books, with one exception, made me laugh. I usually do well on my seasonal goals but I didn’t do so well this winter. C’est la vie!

I’m glad it made you laugh, because it made me laugh while I was writing it too. There’s nothing I can do about it at this point but laugh! There was just something about this winter that lent itself to mood reading, right?

I’m behind on my ARCs as well. But I’m being gentle with myself as I’ve been in a weird head space. I hope you enjoy reading all of them.

I’m trying to do the same, but it’s so hard when I just don’t want to have any late books to stress about! But, I keep telling myself little by little and eventually, everything will get done, right?

I still haven’t got round to jumping on the Fourth Wing bandwagon either. I enjoyed House of Flame and Shadow but I think it was my least favourite of the trilogy. Her editor seems to have left her to it and she has POV changes all over the place.

I already have a buddy read set up for Fourth Wing, but I just don’t have the time to read it, and that makes me want to cry! Same goes for House of Flame and Shadow, although I’m not generally a fan of sudden POV changes.

A great looking list! I tend to focus on Blog Tour books and so rarely get to my own books. I am trying to cut down this year, which I have but I still haven’t got to my TBR…
Fourth Wing is on my list too!
I hope that you enjoy them when you get to them!
Have a great week!

I completely understand that – NetGalley for me is taking up all my free time, but blog tours can take so much energy! Fingers crossed that spring is the time that we can get to our TBRs, finally. Enjoy your weekend, and sorry for the late reply.

I don’t look at Netgalley too often for fear of that 🤣 Blog Tours get emailed to me and I get sucked in. To be fair they take up the same amount of time for me as I post everywhere for both of them 🤣
I hope so. I am trying to do one Blog Tour book a month – failing so far but the most I did was 2 I think. The Council are threatening library closures so I have been trying to get library books too (only short ones, but they still take up time!).
Have a lovely weekend too, absolutely no need to apologise!

Blog tours always took so much out of me, but it’s always next to impossible to turn them down when they’re emailed right to you, but NG also emails me too, and it’s so hard to turn down!
I love and respect the fact that you’re working to save your local library – if only more people thought that! I’ll sometimes check out ebooks and audiobooks even if I’ve read them already, just to show that there’s a demand for new books.
Enjoy your week!

To be honest it’s only the deadline sometimes for me as I post my reviews everywhere anyway 😂 they are so hard to resist!! Netgalley I don’t open for fear of being sucked in 😂
The village has a few Facebook pages and there was a message on there about potential closure plans. I’m hoping that we are all doing enough. There weren’t as many baby books this week so I’m hoping it’s because they have been checked out!
Thank you. You too 😊

It is definitely the deadlines that stress me out the most, and NetGalley sucks me in every time! Even worse, when I post my reviews on there, I always fall for the pages displaying the new books they’re offering.
Fingers crossed that a lot of other people have the same idea that you do and are trying to use the library as much as possible too!

They always seem so far away at the time 🤣
I try not to look – best way 🤣 it’s hard though 😂
I hope so. I love all the libraries. We have local elections coming up and my partner said he thought he had heard that there was going to be a polling station set up in the library. Not sure how accurate that is but things like that will help!

I know – that’s why I have FOMO about it! I even saw an older lady reading it at the doctor’s office. And thanks! I really hope to enjoy them all.

I’ve been going through ARCs too much too because I want to start posting more book reviews but I miss reading whatever I want just for pleasure, honestly. I might enjoy a couple of these books so putting them on my TBR.

I think we’re on the same page (pun intended). I miss just going to the library and leaving with an armful of whatever strikes my fancy! Or even being able to read the books collecting on my shelves, you know? I hope you like the books you added to your TBR!

I now recall that I had added Ink & Bone to my TBR years ago, back when I’d loved the Morganville Vampires — and then I forgot all about it! So thanks a ton for the reminder

These all sound great. I read The Bookish Life of Nina Hill a while back and enjoyed it quite a bit. Hope you find the time to get to all of these and enjoy them.

Thank you! Everyone has said the same thing about The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, so I’m moving that one up on the priority list.

Oh Fourth Wing… It feels like everyone I know has read this book and it has made me so hesitant to read it! I even own a physical copy 😂

Yes! I was hesitant to put it on my TBR at all, because everyone was reading it and raving about it, but then I got such bad FOMO that I had to buy a copy. But now I really want to see what it’s all about!

haha!! I am TERRIBLE at actually hitting my TBR list. I have to add all my ARC’s to give me an edge because my mood reading kills it. lol I hope you can get to some of these!!

I love your enthusiastic three exclamation points on the Winter TBR book that you read 😂 Hope you can use lots more when you look back at this Spring TBR list! House of Flame and Shadow is one I was too timid to actually commit to lol but I’m also keeping that one in my mind.
Here’s my post for this week!

Of course I overdid it with the exclamation points, because I was excited to be able to say that I read one book, at least! 🤣 I’m hoping to have better results when my Summer 2024 TBR list goes up.

I’ve heard mixed things about Priory, but everyone has said such great things about Nina Hill, so obviously I can’t wait to read it which means it’s going to languish on my shelf and seasonal TBRs in perpetua. LOL!

Leah! I have Ink and Bone on my TBR… maybe a buddy read will push us both to actually read it?? I’ve read Priory and Fourth Wing and loved both, though they are completely different reads lol. I hope you enjoy these when you get around to reading 🙂

I have really high hopes for all 3, and I would absolutely love to do a buddy read for Ink and Bone – that could be a perfect addition to resurrect our “read from our own shelves” backlist plan!

Thank you! I’ve got a buddy read in the works for Fourth Wing, and one coming up for The Familiar, and I’m so excited for both of them. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you think of the books, since we might just be reading them together 😊
