Happy Tuesday, and I hope your week is off to a wonderful start! This week’s prompt is favorite books from ten series, and it was submitted by A Hot Cup of Pleasure. I really like this topic, actually, because while I love to read series, there’s always one book in the series that I love more than the others. Here are my favorite books from ten series that I love:
- The Vicious King by Gina L. Maxwell. I loved all three books in this trilogy, but Finnian’s story was my favorite out of all of the Deviant Kings books. Although you really can’t go wrong with any of them. I promise.
- Labyrinth’s Heart by M.A. Carrick. Out of all three books in this series, I loved the final one the most. It felt like we got more answers, more character growth, and more complexity in the story.
- The Ivory Tomb by Melissa Caruso. This whole series was fantastic, but the last book was incredible, full of so much change for the characters and I loved how everything panned out.
- Cazadora by Romina Garber. This sequel to Lobizona was even better than the first book, and highlighted how talented Garber is. My only complaint is that it didn’t feel finished and I was hoping for a third book!
- A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I really love this entire series, but nothing quite hit like that first book—where Diana discovers her powers and meets Matthew, so this is my favorite out of the series so far.
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I remember reading this one, and intentionally reading it slowly because I didn’t want to finish it too soon. It’s one of those books where you know that you’ll never read it the same way a second time.
- House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas. You know I couldn’t make a list without putting SJM on it, but this would have to be a favorite of mine. I love how she plots her series, and the way all the pieces start to fall into place as I read, and that cliffhanger ending? Yeah, this earned a place on the list.
- Golden Son by Pierce Brown. This was probably the most emotional book in the Red Rising Saga, but it was just really nice to see how much growth occurred in this story.
- The Combat Codes by Alexander Darwin. I’m a sucker for a great start to a series, and this was such a strong beginning, plus I really enjoyed the story itself.
- The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. This was such an incredible start to an African-inspired fantasy series, and I was hooked shortly after starting this book. It’s like I knew right away that I was going to become obsessed with this series, and I was right.

I had Six of Crows on my shelf for YEARS, and though it’s not my usual genre, I was always curious. However I did put it in an unhaul box last week when I was resorting my shelves. Just feels like there comes a time when we have to let books go that we never read! I know so many readers adore that one though so I am still curious. 😉

I’m normally a pretty fast reader, and I just slowed down and savored that one because I just couldn’t speed through it. I was enjoying it way too much! You might want to give it a try.

I haven’t read any of these except Six of Crows and it’s one of my most favorite book.

So many people commented about that book, and it’s one of my favorites too. I read it so slowly because I didn’t want it to end!

i struggled my way through A Discovery of Witches and eventually got through the second one. I have the third one waiting. I don’t understand why I struggled as it has everything you could want in it 😂 I have the last series on DVD to watch.

I personally loved it, but everyone is different. There are so many books that really sounded like they’d be perfect for me but didn’t quite hit the spot, so you never know! But the show is really good too.

I don’t know why I didn’t get into it. It baffles me to this day! I tried the second one and have the third one. The second one was also meh for me. I love the show and have the last season on DVD to watch at some point 😊

I think the majority of the series I read are cozy mysteries, as I’m not a huge fantasy reader.

I liked Lobizona more than Cazadora, but I’m still wondering whether there will be another book.
Also, I didn’t put Crescent City on my list because I already have TOG and ACOTAR.

I’ve also been hoping for another book in the Wolves of No World series – it didn’t quite feel finished after Cazadora.

I loved A Discovery of Witches too! For me it is a bit of toss up between the first book and second one; but you are right the first is pretty amazing!

Both the first and second were good, but it was the whole discovering a new, magical world full of characters I was thrilled and excited to meet that made the first book earn its spot on this list!

I never really noticed it until considering today’s prompt, but I generally like the first book in a series the best. Not in EVERY case, but in the majority of them. That seems to be kind of unique based on what I’ve seen on people’s posts today. It’s always interesting to see readers’ different habits and preferences – just one of the many reasons I love TTT!

It’s always so interesting to see which book in a series people prefer. I didn’t notice until now, but I tend to like either first books or last books. There’s something about stepping into a brand new world, and seeing everything come together at the end of a series that always intrigues me. All of our differences make blog hopping so interesting for TTT!

Yes to Rage of Dragons & Labyrinth’s Heart. Rage was such a brilliant series starter & Heart was so emotional, but I loved how all the threads from the previous book started to weave together!

Yes! I tend to love first books or last books, and you put your finger on it exactly – I love when all the threads from the previous books come together and everything works out somehow.
