I originally created this in an effort to get people to engage a little more. So far, it’s been a really interesting experiment. There are some people who consistently seem to visit my blog on Sundays, and a few of you lovely readers comment. But, my last few posts have been kind of narrow in scope, so I wanted to open this up to you guys to share more. Also, if there are any topics you’d like to see, or want to participate, share in the comments! While I do try my best to keep topics relevant, what’s relevant to one person isn’t always applicable for another person.
Today I want to talk about book blogs. I’ve got one, and chances are good that if you are reading this, you’ve also got one. And since this is such a broad topic, I figured I’d share just a little and then request that you comment your thoughts. There are so many directions to take this in, I am just going to talk about my own personal blog and what attracts me to another blogger’s page.
I have always been a fast reader, and rather than let my reviews pile up, I have been working to get the reviews written and scheduled early. When reviews pile up for me, I start to forget important parts of the story and get them mixed up. So I typically aim to post something daily, and that includes my three features a week—Top Ten Tuesday, First Lines Fridays, and my Sunday Bookish Discussion. There are times when I can get a little caught up and schedule my reviews several days or even a week in advance, and that makes life so much easier for me. But if I don’t have a book review forthcoming, I try to be gentle to myself. Posting daily on my blog isn’t something that needs to be done, but it’s something I aim for, even if I fall short.
The other side of the coin is what draws me to other blogger’s websites. A lot of the pages I visit come from the Top Ten Tuesday link-up, and I’ll often find really interesting blogs and cool bloggers that way. Since I’m rarely able to blog hop on Tuesdays, I find myself noticing book reviews and other posts on their pages as I look for the TTT post. I typically gravitate towards blogs that are active, bloggers who have overlapping reading preferences with mine (Becky @ Becky’s Book Blog always expands my TBR, along with Julie @ One Book More), bloggers who share their joy as well as their books (Erin @ Still Life, With Cracker Crumbs is a great example of someone who shares her excitement for life and homeschooling and a gazillion other things) and blogs that introduce me to books I might not normally come across (Lydia @ Lydia Schoch is fantastic for turning me on to indie books). I also can’t resist a blogger with the same snarky and sarcastic sense of humor as me.
What is your blog schedule, and how far in advance do you schedule? What makes you want to follow a blog?

The only posts I even try to write and schedule in advance are TTT and then at most I might have two done! Otherwise I post books reviews as I’ve read and written them. I just don’t have time to do more than that, but I think of my blog as more of a reading log/history to help me remember what I’ve read and what my thoughts were (so I’m not totally reliant on Goodreads)! My blog isn’t all books either, that’s just part of it I also write personal posts, about my embroidery projects, movies, very occasionally games.. whatever I feel like.
I like book bloggers who read widely, as I do. If all I see are books that are one genre (romance, cosy mysteries, YA, horror etc) then it won’t be for me. I really appreciate those that take the time to break down their thoughts in a review too.
My favourites are those who share a bit about themselves and their lives outside of books!

You make great points, but my favorites are also bloggers that give us an inside peek to who they are and what their lives are like outside of reading.

I usually don’t schedule more than a week in advance unless I’m going on a trip. It’s hard enough for me to find time to blog in between a full-time job & also reading so that I have stuff to blog about haha. What makes me want to follow a blog is seeing that someone reads similar content to me and also engages with others. That engagement is important to me.

I can’t imagine how tough this must be to do with a full-time job on top of the blogging and reading.
Sometimes I also like reading blogs that review books that challenge me to get outside my comfort zone.
