A Quick Update

Recently, I decided to share a little more about me on my blog, along with my usual bookish content.

I’ve got a lot on my plate. I have several autoimmune issues, and was most recently diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and while none of these issues are fun, POTS has been absolutely kicking my butt. I struggle mostly with my heart rate speeding up significantly and sweating heavily when I sit up or stand up, but I recently fainted when getting out of bed last week. Since then, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my shoulder, which I seem to have injured. Luckily, that’s the only part that has been super painful, despite a skinned knee and some pretty heavy bruising in various areas.

In addition to that, I have three dogs – one young, one middle-aged, and one elderly lady. I love these dogs and treat them like my children. I live with my mother, and we help each other out. It basically involves a lot of us saying “What was I talking about?” and “Have you seen my phone/purse/dog/random item?” But we also have a lot of fun and laughs.

Fortunately, dogs aren’t actual children, so the vacation that I’m taking for just over 2 weeks doesn’t have to be someplace that welcomes them. Instead, my babies will be well-cared for at home.

As for me, I’m taking a well-deserved break. I will be traveling to Florida, where I have a ton of family, so it’s not the typical vacation, but instead it’ll be like a staycation but instead of my house, it’ll be at the homes of my nephews. The last vacation I took was a river cruise in Europe, so this is going to be a bit more of a slower-paced trip. One of my great-nephews is having a birthday party just after Thanksgiving, so I’ll get to be there for two big events. I don’t get to see my nephews and their families as often as I’d like, but at least I’ll get to spend some quality time with my nephews, my bonus niece, and my great-niblings, as well as seeing a sister, my cousins, an aunt, and an uncle.

I will be traveling today, but luckily it’s not a long flight. I hope to get some reading done on the flight, although I don’t expect to be posting a plethora of reviews during my trip. So I’ll be on a limited posting schedule until I get back to New York. See you soon!

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

  1. Boy, I sure am sorry to hear about your most recent diagnosis and the trouble it is giving you with your heart rate and fainting. Ugh.

This spring we went to Utah to visit the National Parks there, all five, and had a lovely, fantastic trip.

My best to you on your staycation.
