Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is a freebie centering around book covers.
A lot of times I am drawn to books because of how the cover looks, only to find out that the book just isn’t as awesome as the cover art. Fortunately, more of the time, I pick up books with deceptively simple cover art that hide the most incredible books on the inside. Don’t get me wrong – by deceptively simple, I don’t mean that the art isn’t beautiful, because these are gorgeous and appealing. They just may not immediately draw the eye as quickly as some of the more flashy book covers out there; but don’t get it twisted – these are some of my favorite stories, and include a few of the most impactful that I’ve read lately!

Haven’t read “Red Queen,” but the cover art for that one seems ideal for its plot, story and some of the intrigue of the world. I’m all about “simple” cover art, which can be just as, if not more, of a stunner than art that’s really detailed. 🙂

Lovely! I’m also drawn to more subtle book art. Now that I think about it. The whole Don Tillman trilogy with the rather plain covers were very cool.

I love subtle art – sometimes it allows the book itself to shine more. Flashy covers are beautiful too, but I’m tempted to stare at them more than read them!

These are all great choices! Although I do like Red Queen’s cover. I haven’t read all of these, but the ones I have read are beautiful on the inside too!

I totally agree and this is me admitting that I cover judge way too often 😂 It’s so disappointing when covers are crazy beautiful and then the stories are just *wompwomp*. I really love some of these covers and the stories even more so! Great list 🙂

Ah I love the This Savage Song cover. The UK ones are nice enough, but I do like that the US covers have the violin on them!

I love how you picked them so they seem to have the same aesthetic, even despite the simplicity theme! But I still haven’t read most of them xD hey, are you on the Inheritance Games blog tour though? Cause if not, YOU MUST READ!! (I can’t wait till I get to post my review next week.)

Ooo! Love this topic. My favorite one that would fit this topic (in a good way) is Bright Side by Kim Holden. The cover is deceptively simple.

I love Scythe! I think Neal Shusterman’s books often get ugly covers, but the stories are so good!
