Fae Friday is an awesome new weekly post created by Kristy at Caffeinated Fae. I’m super excited to participate in this (and to have been an avid supporter of it from the beginning)! A topic is provided each week, and Kristy is so welcoming to ideas from others. If you have any ideas for topics, reach out to her through her blog or on Twitter (@caffeinatedfae).
Here’s the rules:
- Link back to this page on Caffeinated Fae.
- If the prompt idea comes from another blog, link to that blog as well.
- Use #FaeFriday when posting to social media so we can all find each other!
- Participate when you can and have fun with the prompt!
The autumn court is still in the spotlight and celebrating the season change by gracing us with the beautiful gift that is the changing of the leaves. That is why this week’s prompt is: What genre gives off that perfect autumn vibe to you?

As the seasons change and I find myself wearing fuzzy socks, craving pumpkin spice everything, drinking more tea, and wrapping myself in a cozy blanket, I notice that my reading tastes change a little as well. I tend to gravitate more towards mysteries and other spooky or creepy (but not scary) stories, such as books about witches, sorcerers, or dark Fae.
What about you? What kind of books call to you in the autumn?

Typically twisted fairy tales and, to be totally on-the-nose, Halloween-themed books are my autumn go-to. There’s something about feeling like you’re sitting by a hearth or bonfire, listening to tales of Magic and Mischief… 🎃🧚🏽♀️🧙♂️

There should be a comma after “typically”… 😅 For me, the more unusually twisted, the better!

I mean I’m trash for them, anyway but I would agree that they lend themselves to this time a year- maybe bending into a bit more of a horror vibe.

Haha especially for people like me who are too much of a wimp to read horror 😂

Well I mean there is a range of horror… you’ve reviewed some books that fall on the spectrum.

I try my best not to veer into the super scary territory though.

No. I understand but mystery/thriller that bends that way, will scrape the surface, really.
