Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is characters whose job I wish I had, and let me tell you, it was honestly a struggle, so I gave up at 8. I clearly didn’t want to pick run of the mill jobs, so here’s what I managed to come up with:
- High Lady of the Night Court (Feyre from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas) — this one comes with a really cool group of people AND job perks.
- Princess (Adalina from The Lost Legends by Cait Marie) — I love the idea of being a princess, without having to worry about actually doing all the work of running a country. Plus, there’s a lot of adventures.
- Warden of Grimoires (Elisabeth from Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson) — dealing with books all day? Sounds good. Books that are sentient and have personalities of their own? Even better. Add in some danger? Where can I sign up?
- Bookseller (Sam from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater) — this is one of the more realistic jobs on my list, and it just seems like such a laid-back work environment with a cool boss.
- Assassin (Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas) — come on, how could I not want to have the specialized skill set that Celaena has? She’s badass with the attitude to match, and the pay seems worth it.
- Healer (Nahri from City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty) — not just any healer, but a magical healer to boot. This sounds like such an amazing job, and one that directly makes a difference in people’s lives.
- Witch (Cleopatra Quinn from The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow) — there’s a bunch of witches in this story, but for some reason I just loved Cleopatra’s style!
- Author (January Andrews from Beach Read by Emily Henry) — another job that’s a realistic one, but the setting from the book made this something I would absolutely love to have.
What are some characters whose jobs you wish you had?

Princess. That would be something. I went off the board this week because I couldn’t remember anyone’s professions except for the teachers and since I’m one that wasn’t fun. Check out my off the board list please. Thanks you. My TTT

I think every book lover dreams of owning a bookstore. I’m sure it’s a stressful job in reality, but it sure sounds fun!
Happy TTT!

Great list! I struggled with this week’s prompt and ended up going completely off-topic, but you made it work! Loved the authors in Beach Read and Bookseller would be a dream job, too, but all the fantasy jobs are so much more fun! In theory anyway. Ha!

Definitely! I love the jobs I could never possibly get in the regular, non-magical world.

I totally agree that having Celaena’s skillset would be amazing! She is definitely one of the most badass characters out there. Great post!
