Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – Characters With Jobs I Want

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

This week’s topic is characters whose job I wish I had, and let me tell you, it was honestly a struggle, so I gave up at 8. I clearly didn’t want to pick run of the mill jobs, so here’s what I managed to come up with:

  1. High Lady of the Night Court (Feyre from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas) — this one comes with a really cool group of people AND job perks.
  2. Princess (Adalina from The Lost Legends by Cait Marie) — I love the idea of being a princess, without having to worry about actually doing all the work of running a country. Plus, there’s a lot of adventures.
  3. Warden of Grimoires (Elisabeth from Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson) — dealing with books all day? Sounds good. Books that are sentient and have personalities of their own? Even better. Add in some danger? Where can I sign up?
  4. Bookseller (Sam from Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater) — this is one of the more realistic jobs on my list, and it just seems like such a laid-back work environment with a cool boss.
  5. Assassin (Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas) — come on, how could I not want to have the specialized skill set that Celaena has? She’s badass with the attitude to match, and the pay seems worth it.
  6. Healer (Nahri from City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty) — not just any healer, but a magical healer to boot. This sounds like such an amazing job, and one that directly makes a difference in people’s lives.
  7. Witch (Cleopatra Quinn from The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow) — there’s a bunch of witches in this story, but for some reason I just loved Cleopatra’s style!
  8. Author (January Andrews from Beach Read by Emily Henry) — another job that’s a realistic one, but the setting from the book made this something I would absolutely love to have.

What are some characters whose jobs you wish you had?

  1. Princess. That would be something. I went off the board this week because I couldn’t remember anyone’s professions except for the teachers and since I’m one that wasn’t fun. Check out my off the board list please. Thanks you. My TTT

  2. Ooh those are all great choices! Though I would for sure go for number 1, especially since I’m currently rereading ACOMAF 😂

  3. Great list! I struggled with this week’s prompt and ended up going completely off-topic, but you made it work! Loved the authors in Beach Read and Bookseller would be a dream job, too, but all the fantasy jobs are so much more fun! In theory anyway. Ha!
