Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

For someone who adores books, I don’t have a lot of people around me in real life who enjoy reading. Which means I don’t make a lot of recommendations outside of the online book community. But when someone tells me that they loved an author that I also love, I can make some good recs based on what I enjoyed afterwards. Recently, I loved The Drowning Empire series by Andrea Stewart, so if you liked her writing, you’ll probably enjoy the following books:

- The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso
- Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler
- The Bladed Faith by David Dalglish
- The Unbroken by C.L. Clark
- The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri
- The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan
- The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
- Jade City by Fonda Lee
- One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
- Empire of Exiles by Erin M. Evans
What do you think? Have you read any of these? What recs would you make?

Guess I’d better start with Andrea Stewart. I’m not familiar with her writing/books. Thanks.

Thanks! I was lucky to have gotten an ARC of it, and let me tell you, it’s so good! Luckily you won’t have to wait long.

I struggle making book recs because the readers around me read different genres than I do. My youngest daughter prefers real life sci-fi (not set in space) and horror. Whereas I prefer historical fiction, cozy mysteries, and romance.

I totally understand that – I’m pretty eclectic, so I can generally point someone in a good direction, but I’d struggle with sci-fi and horror recs (clearly).

I don’t have a lot of IRL bookish friends either.

Oh man, those are two favorites of mine! Maybe it helped that I did Jade City as a buddy read.

Yeah!! I would too. She’s so sweet! I interact with her a lot on there and probably how I got into her series in the first place!!

I’m not a fantasy reader, so I’m not familiar with any of these. I’m sure they’re good recs, though! Glad you have this community to share your reading recs with 🙂
Happy TTT!

Thank you for checking out today’s post even if fantasy is not your jam! Next time I’ll have to make a list with a different genre.
