Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
Today is Independence Day in America. Before I get into the prompt, I have to say that I’m incredibly disappointed in the state of affairs in my country, and feel like our country is moving backwards, in the worst possible way.
Today’s prompt is about book covers in the colors of my country’s flag. I know I talk a lot about my favorite books, so today I’m going to talk about some of the books on my shelves that I haven’t read yet. Here are just some of them:

- Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
- Codex by Lev Grossman
- The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz
- The Round House by Louise Erdrich
- The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok
- The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
- The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi
- Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
- Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie
Are any of these on your list?

Hope you enjoy all of these! So many books still to read and enjoy. 🙂

I’ve heard good things about it, and couldn’t resist it when I came across it at a library sale!

Hi there Leah!
I don’t think you will be the only one expressing disappointment in your country today. It is becoming a universal problem.
I don’t know any of your books, but I have seen The Namesake before.
Luckily we still have some great books to get lost in!

Ugh, America is such a disappointment lately – hopefully things get better soon. Where would we be without books to forget about reality?

I have the feeling a lot of Americans are going to agree with us, Lydia! Also, I had no idea you were American – I thought you were Canadian!

Legendborn is a book that I almost didn’t pick up because of all of the hype surrounding it. But I’m glad I did, as it was one of my favorite books of 2021.

The state of the country is sad for sure. 😦 I do love your cover choices, though! Happy 4th!

It definitely is, but our books are more than enough for us to forget about how bad things are around here for a bit.

They aren’t included in my covers, but Legendborn and everything Brandon Sanderson writes are on my TBR list.

Don’t judge, but I have yet to read anything by Brandon Sanderson!

I have Legendborn on my TBR too, and I loved The Namesake! I struggled with The Latecomer though. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy it a bit more. Happy 4th!

I picked it up from a Little Free Library, so at least I didn’t spend anything on The Latecomer in case I don’t like it. And what?? I found the only other person in the book community that hasn’t read Legendborn either?

Sounds like one we can add to our ever-growing buddy read list!
