Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites – Beach Reads

I’ve really missed doing Friday Favorites, and since no one was currently hosting it, Cait @ Functionally Fictional decided to jump into the gap. Each week, she provides a prompt, and I get to talk about my favorite books that fit the topic. Feel free to join in – the more the merrier!

This week’s prompt is beach reads, and this is definitely the week for it. Temps have been in the 90s here, and it’s too hot to do anything except lay around with the air conditioning and the fan on. Unfortunately, I do not have a pool and I’m not really a beach person. But I still like to read beach reads, or what I consider to be light and fluffy books that don’t take up too much mental energy, yet have that essential quality that make them impossible to stop reading, and offers a perfect escape from the daily grind.

A lot of the ones on my list this week are romances, but some are just considered women’s literature or general fiction, one is a cozy historical mystery, and one is fantasy that isn’t overly involved or difficult to follow. Here’s some of my favorite books that fit the bill:

  1. The Déjà Glitch by Holly James
  2. Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr
  3. Unorthodox Love by Heidi Shertok
  4. Someone Else’s Bucket List by Amy T. Matthews
  5. Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler
  6. When You Wish Upon a Lantern by Gloria Chao
  7. A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn
  8. Seven Percent of Ro Devereux by Ellen O’Clover
  9. Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep
  10. Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

Have you read any of these? What are some of your favorite beach reads?

  1. A lot of those look like wonderful beach reads! I don’t have any favorites, at least not that I can think of off the top of my head, but I did just read Happy Place by Emily Henry. It definitely felt like a beach read, and it was solid!
