State of the ARC

State Of The ARC #29

State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.

I finished June with 25 ARCs left to be read.

I know that I said I was planning to seriously work on making progress on my ARCs this month, but the universe basically laughed in my face. Mom had a fall, and it involved a stay in the hospital, a short-term rehab, and then a lot of assistance at home. Plus, I’m now a chauffeur since she isn’t able to drive. So that took up a lot of my time, and reading was on the back burner in July. Even so, I managed to read more books than I got approved for, which I’m definitely counting as progress. Plus, my ratio went up to 93%.

I got approved for 8 new books in July:

  • My Tel Aviv Table by Limor Chen
  • The ‘I Love My Air Fryer’ Comfort Food Recipe Book by Aileen Clark
  • A Bean to Die For by Tara Lush
  • The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
  • Come and Get It by Kiley Reid
  • Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
  • The Green Witch’s Guide to Self-Care by Autumn Willow
  • Starling House by Alix E. Harrow

These are the ARCs that I read and reviewed, with links to my reviews:

  • The Déjà Glitch by Holly James — see my review here.
  • The Book of Witches by Jonathan Strahan — see my review here.
  • Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen — see my review here.
  • Pestilence by Laura Thalassa — see my review here.
  • The ‘I Love My Air Fryer’ Comfort Food Recipe Book by Aileen Clark — see my review here.
  • Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher — see my review here.
  • The Invisible Hour by Alice Hoffman — see my review here.
  • War by Laura Thalassa — see my review here.
  • The Green Witch’s Guide to Self-Care by Autumn Willow — see my review here.
  • Starling House by Alix E. Harrow — see my review here.

Here are the ARCs I still have to read:

Which ARCs are you excited about this month? Do we have any in common? Have you already read any of the ones on my list?

  1. Oh no, I hope your Mom is doing ok now! Sorry to see she had a fall. 😦

I look forward to your review of THE WITCHING TIDE. I think I included it in my Anticipated 3rd Quarter Releases post a month ago, but declined to request an ARC for it because I’m not a super speedy reader. There’s only one of me!
