Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – Books On My Fall 2023 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

I’m currently drowning in ARCs, so the vast majority of my fall 2023 TBR is going to be ARCs. However, there are some books I got that I’m dying to start sooner rather than later. Here’s just some of the books I’m hoping to read in fall 2023:

  1. Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn. The world needs more sapphic heist novels, and this is one of them.
  2. The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick. Any book described as a darkly magical fantasy adventure is one that I can’t resist.
  3. The Pomegranate Gate by Ariel Kaplan. A Jewish-inspired fantasy that takes place during the Inquisition is one that I absolutely had to get my hands on immediately.
  4. Shield Maiden by Sharon Emmerichs. This Beowulf retelling is told from the perspective of a young woman, and seems to have some disability rep.
  5. The Reformatory by Tananarive Due. This is a historical fiction novel about the infamous Dozier School for Boys by an author I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about.
  6. A Grandmother Begins the Story by Michelle Porter. I’m always a sucker for a multigenerational saga, and this one is about a family of Métis women and their surroundings.
  7. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Yeah, I fell for the hype and couldn’t get past the FOMO. Now to find the time to read it.
  8. Fairy Tale by Stephen King. This was a gift from my dear friend who is a die hard King fan, and I can’t wait to read it.
  9. Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer. I’ve been dying to read this, and just won it in a contest, so now I have to read it!
  10. Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. I’ve been waiting for this book since the minute I finished the last one.

What are some of the books on your autumn TBR? Do you have any in common with me?

  1. What a great selection of books! Four are on my own TBR. I don’t have a list but I am hoping to pick up A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher and a few others. We’ll see.
Happy reading and thanks for sharing, hun!

  2. I have heard such good things about “Kissing Kosher”! – this was the final push I needed to add it to my TBR pile (thanks so much). I can never get enough of “opposites attract” will-they? won’t-they? romance reads! Give me a slow burn romance any day! I just recently finished a book with a similar(ish) feel called “Pretend with Me” by Emily Mayer (https://emilymayerbooks.com/). The main character, Sutton, is so likable and I found myself rooting for her (and relating to her) throughout. She is forced to head back to her hometown to take care of her dad who is housebound for the time being. To her surprise, her sister is marrying one of the St. James boys (picture the Kennedys) and soon, his brother Holden, seems to be invading her thoughts, even though they are complete and total opposites. This is a slow burn romance with so much going for it. I CANNOT wait for the next book in the series. If you don’t add this to your fall reads, make sure you check it out this winter! You won’t regret it. Thanks as always for a great site and great recommendations.

    • I’ll have to check that one out! And I’m so glad to hear that you’re going to add Kissing Kosher to your TBR pile! I love Jean Meltzer’s writing, and have heard nothing but great things about this book too. Opposites attract romances are my jam! Can’t wait to see what you think of it.
