Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
I’m currently drowning in ARCs, so the vast majority of my fall 2023 TBR is going to be ARCs. However, there are some books I got that I’m dying to start sooner rather than later. Here’s just some of the books I’m hoping to read in fall 2023:

- Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn. The world needs more sapphic heist novels, and this is one of them.
- The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick. Any book described as a darkly magical fantasy adventure is one that I can’t resist.
- The Pomegranate Gate by Ariel Kaplan. A Jewish-inspired fantasy that takes place during the Inquisition is one that I absolutely had to get my hands on immediately.
- Shield Maiden by Sharon Emmerichs. This Beowulf retelling is told from the perspective of a young woman, and seems to have some disability rep.
- The Reformatory by Tananarive Due. This is a historical fiction novel about the infamous Dozier School for Boys by an author I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about.
- A Grandmother Begins the Story by Michelle Porter. I’m always a sucker for a multigenerational saga, and this one is about a family of Métis women and their surroundings.
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Yeah, I fell for the hype and couldn’t get past the FOMO. Now to find the time to read it.
- Fairy Tale by Stephen King. This was a gift from my dear friend who is a die hard King fan, and I can’t wait to read it.
- Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer. I’ve been dying to read this, and just won it in a contest, so now I have to read it!
- Light Bringer by Pierce Brown. I’ve been waiting for this book since the minute I finished the last one.
What are some of the books on your autumn TBR? Do you have any in common with me?

I hope you enjoy all of your fall TBR hopefuls. I see a few authors I’m familiar with but none that I’ve read. And I did see a lot about Rebecca’s novel a while back. 🙂

Good luck with reading all of these! I’m in the same boat with drowning in ARCs as well and hope to get a chunk of it done.
Fourth Wing was a lot of fun! I couldn’t get past the hype either (and definitely couldn’t resist dragons).

I’m so excited to read Fourth Wing, and while I have a ton of ARCs to read, I can’t really complain. I am really excited for all of them, and they sound really great.

What a great selection of books! Four are on my own TBR. I don’t have a list but I am hoping to pick up A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher and a few others. We’ll see.
Happy reading and thanks for sharing, hun!

Oh, you’re going to love A House with Good Bones! And thanks – I’m pretty psyched to read all of these when I get around to it. Happy reading to you too!

What did you end up reading?

And I fully agree that the inside of Kingfisher’s brain must be a really twisted place 😂

I’m not complaining but you have to wonder—If these are the stories she creates.. what do her nightmares look like? 😶

Sheri – you know I’m a wuss. I do not want to know what the nightmares of horror or gritty mystery writers look like. Chances are it’s far beyond my boundaries!

I wouldn’t say you’re a wuss. Plenty of people would rather be spellbound than horrified.

If it helps at all, I don’t react well to cockroaches. They can’t even hurt you.. but my survival instincts don’t really care.

I don’t blame you – they’re really gross!

Wow! That is a heavy list. I haven’t read Among Thieves either, yet. And that is just stupid sauce on my part.

FOURTH WING is EVERYWHERE. It’s not my genre, but I might have to read it just to see what all the hype’s about. KISSING KOSHER looks cute. I’ll have to read that one after THE MATZAH BALL. I hope you enjoy all these!
Happy TTT!

I’m currently reading SHIELD MAIDEN and I definitely feel like I’m in a 12th century Scandinavian environment! I can’t wait for you to read FOURTH WING…love seeing others’ reviews for this book since it can be relatively polarizing for some haha.

I have heard such good things about “Kissing Kosher”! – this was the final push I needed to add it to my TBR pile (thanks so much). I can never get enough of “opposites attract” will-they? won’t-they? romance reads! Give me a slow burn romance any day! I just recently finished a book with a similar(ish) feel called “Pretend with Me” by Emily Mayer (https://emilymayerbooks.com/). The main character, Sutton, is so likable and I found myself rooting for her (and relating to her) throughout. She is forced to head back to her hometown to take care of her dad who is housebound for the time being. To her surprise, her sister is marrying one of the St. James boys (picture the Kennedys) and soon, his brother Holden, seems to be invading her thoughts, even though they are complete and total opposites. This is a slow burn romance with so much going for it. I CANNOT wait for the next book in the series. If you don’t add this to your fall reads, make sure you check it out this winter! You won’t regret it. Thanks as always for a great site and great recommendations.

I’ll have to check that one out! And I’m so glad to hear that you’re going to add Kissing Kosher to your TBR pile! I love Jean Meltzer’s writing, and have heard nothing but great things about this book too. Opposites attract romances are my jam! Can’t wait to see what you think of it.
