Thank you to Hachette Audio and Angela Man for sending me an ALC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

All I wanted to do was live my life in peace. Maybe get a cat, expand my spice farm. Really anything that doesn’t involve going on a quest where an orc might rip my face off. But they say the Goddess has favorites. If so, I’m clearly not one of them.

After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all he wanted to do was kill an evil witch enslaving his people.

I mean, I get it. Don’t get me wrong. But he’s dragging me along for the ride, and I’m kind of peeved about it. On the bright side, he keeps burning off his shirt.

This audiobook, narrated by Hazel Addison, was like a little ray of sunshine, brightening up one of the most difficult weeks I’ve had in a while. It’s everything I could have asked for in a book like this, and I had to make up my own subgenre for this, so I’m now calling books like this cozy fantasy smut.

It’s hard not to fall in love with Cinnamon right away. She’s practical, hilarious, and cautious, because the one time she isn’t? This book happens. And it’s equally difficult not to love Fallon, in all of his misguided glory. Yes, he’s a demon, but he has a moral code. Even if it isn’t the same moral code that *we* live by, it’s still a moral code, and it made me respect him more for it.

From the start, there’s some romantic tension between Cinnamon and Fallon. It begins as lust, but quickly changes to something more, for both of them. I loved watching how their relationship grows and shifts to a deeper connection as the story goes on and they get to know each other better. Despite the light-hearted nature of the story, the relationship between these two always felt realistic.

The story itself was a fun one. I was quickly invested in the relationship between the characters as well as their journey to get rid of the evil witch and free Fallon’s people. It’s consistently fast-paced and never lags or gets boring. This was a fun and quick audiobook to read, and I highly suggest it for people who like a light-hearted and fun read.
