State of the ARC

State Of The ARC #36

State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.

I finished January with 31 ARCs left to be read.

Is it just me or did winter fly by? It felt like it was just December, and here we are at the start of a new month! Even though it’s a leap year, February still went by really quickly. It was one of those months that had some real ups and downs for me. I slowed down on requesting books, and really tried my best to read books before they were released, but that didn’t really work out so well. I’m also still working my way through a pretty heavy ARC that I started way back in January. I’m still working on it, but it’s just slow going. So ultimately, I did more reading and reviewing than requesting, so I’m pretty happy with it, especially since I kept my ratio at 92% and ended February with 2 less ARCs than I started the month.

I got approved for 3 new books in February:

  • The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Linda Cohen Loigman
  • The Witch of New York by Alex Hortis
  • The Lavender Companion by Terry Barlin Vesci and Jessica Dunham

These are the ARCs that I read and reviewed, with links to my reviews:

  • Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett — see my review here.
  • The Trials of Empire by Richard Swan — see my review here.
  • An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson — see my review here.
  • The Therapy Room by Sam Baron — see my review here.
  • Since She’s Been Gone by Sagit Schwartz — see my review here.

I posted the review I didn’t get to from last month:

  • Anita de Monte Laughs Last by Xochitl Gonzalez — see my review here.
