Top Ten Tuesday

TTT – Books On My Winter 2024-2025 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.

The weather is cold, the days are short, and if you’re lucky, you’ve already seen some snow this year. While I wait for the snow to come to metro NY, it’s time to revisit my seasonal TBR. I always see people discussing their prior progress on the seasonal TBR posted several months back, and as a refresher, here are the books I selected:

  1. Magical Meet Cute by Jean Meltzer. | Goodreads | Amazon
  2. The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich. | Goodreads | Amazon
  3. Madwoman by Chelsea Bieker. | Goodreads | Amazon
  4. Small Rain by Garth Greenwell. | Goodreads | Amazon
  5. A Reason to See You Again by Jami Attenberg. | Goodreads | Amazon
  6. Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty. | Goodreads | Amazon
  7. Spectacular by Stephanie Garber. | Goodreads | Amazon
  8. Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne. | Goodreads | Amazon
  9. An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson. | Goodreads | Amazon
  10. Exposure by Ramona Emerson. | Goodreads | Amazon

To absolutely no one’s surprise, I read exactly zero of the books from my fall TBR. Instead, I was busy focusing on my ARC reads from both NetGalley and publishers. I always say that I want to do more reading for pleasure, and I actually did read a couple of books that I got to just choose based on my mood.

For my winter TBR, I’m going to choose ten books that I really want to read, and try my best to ensure that I make time to read at least one or two. Here’s what I’m looking forward to reading this winter:

  1. Magical Meet Cute by Jean Meltzer. | Goodreads | Amazon — This golem-themed romance sounds so Jewish and so amazing that I had to keep it on my TBR shelf.
  2. The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo. | Goodreads | Amazon — I preordered this book as soon as I found out about it, but I still haven’t started it. I did promise to buddy read it with a friend, so hopefully I’ll be able to start it soon.
  3. Boudicca by P.C. Cast. | Goodreads | Amazon — Boudicca has been fascinating to me since I first heard about her, and can’t wait to read a historical fiction featuring this amazing woman.
  4. A Sea of Unspoken Things by Adrienne Young. | Goodreads | Amazon — There isn’t an Adrienne Young book I’ve read that I haven’t loved. I am fully expecting to thoroughly enjoy this one too.
  5. Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett. | Goodreads | Amazon — If you have loved the first two books in this whimsical and enchanting series, you’re probably just as antsy to get your mitts on this book as I am.
  6. The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. | Goodreads | Amazon — Cozy fantasy is such a comfort read for me, and I’ve heard great things about this book, so I can bump it up in priority.
  7. The Hunter by Tana French. | Goodreads | Amazon — This is a sequel to a book I read a couple of years ago, before I knew there was going to be a sequel. Obviously, I have to know what happens next in Cal’s world.
  8. The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne. | Goodreads | Amazon — I got a copy of the whole series from the publisher, and I’m hoping to love it because it contains a lot of my favorite elements and everyone has great things to say about it.
  9. A Tide of Black Steel by Anthony Ryan. | Goodreads | Amazon — Another book I got from the publisher featuring a Norse-inspired fantasy world, this one is an anticipated read.
  10. Season of Love by Helena Greer. | Goodreads | Amazon — This book made it onto a winter TBR last year, but I never got to it, and I think it would make a great Chanukah read.

Are any of these on your winter 2024-2025 TBR? Share a link to your list!

  1. I didn’t look back on my fall TBR (I’m always “too scared” to see what I didn’t read) but I’m sure I didn’t read any. 😉 As usual, I’m drawn to the cheerful looking rom-com books, so Magical Meet Cute looks fun! Hope you enjoy reading all of these! 🙂

    • I am looking forward to getting around to reading The Spellshop – I’ve seen a few people who didn’t love it, but cozy fantasy is my jam lately. I’m a huge fan of checking out a graphic novel or short story to reach my goals, especially if I’m short on time.

  2. Not really sure that getting snow is lucky, not from this desert rat’s POV anyway! LOL And if you like Boudicca, you might look into A Year of Ravens – a bunch of interconnecting short stories by various authors that deal with Boudicca as well. I really enjoyed it.

    • Thank you! I am looking forward to reading each of these, although I’m not confident that it’ll happen this winter, since I’m also really bad at following my TBR lists unless they’re ARCs.

  3. *Cough* we need to schedule a buddy read for The Familiar *cough* – No but really though, that seems like our kinda buddy read and I also have it on my TBR lol. I’ve heard some really good things about The Shadow of the Gods but haven’t read it myself yet. I hope you end up loving all these, Leah!

  4. Ha ha. I never seem to read more than 1 or 2 books from my seasonal TBRs and sometimes not even that! Glad I’m not alone 🙂 I have read HERE ONE MOMENT, which I liked, although it’s definitely not my favorite of Moriarty’s. I also liked THE HUNTER. I hope you enjoy all these when/if you get to them.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
