Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
The weather is cold, the days are short, and if you’re lucky, you’ve already seen some snow this year. While I wait for the snow to come to metro NY, it’s time to revisit my seasonal TBR. I always see people discussing their prior progress on the seasonal TBR posted several months back, and as a refresher, here are the books I selected:

- Magical Meet Cute by Jean Meltzer. | Goodreads | Amazon
- The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Madwoman by Chelsea Bieker. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Small Rain by Garth Greenwell. | Goodreads | Amazon
- A Reason to See You Again by Jami Attenberg. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Spectacular by Stephanie Garber. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne. | Goodreads | Amazon
- An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson. | Goodreads | Amazon
- Exposure by Ramona Emerson. | Goodreads | Amazon
To absolutely no one’s surprise, I read exactly zero of the books from my fall TBR. Instead, I was busy focusing on my ARC reads from both NetGalley and publishers. I always say that I want to do more reading for pleasure, and I actually did read a couple of books that I got to just choose based on my mood.
For my winter TBR, I’m going to choose ten books that I really want to read, and try my best to ensure that I make time to read at least one or two. Here’s what I’m looking forward to reading this winter:

- Magical Meet Cute by Jean Meltzer. | Goodreads | Amazon — This golem-themed romance sounds so Jewish and so amazing that I had to keep it on my TBR shelf.
- The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo. | Goodreads | Amazon — I preordered this book as soon as I found out about it, but I still haven’t started it. I did promise to buddy read it with a friend, so hopefully I’ll be able to start it soon.
- Boudicca by P.C. Cast. | Goodreads | Amazon — Boudicca has been fascinating to me since I first heard about her, and can’t wait to read a historical fiction featuring this amazing woman.
- A Sea of Unspoken Things by Adrienne Young. | Goodreads | Amazon — There isn’t an Adrienne Young book I’ve read that I haven’t loved. I am fully expecting to thoroughly enjoy this one too.
- Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett. | Goodreads | Amazon — If you have loved the first two books in this whimsical and enchanting series, you’re probably just as antsy to get your mitts on this book as I am.
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. | Goodreads | Amazon — Cozy fantasy is such a comfort read for me, and I’ve heard great things about this book, so I can bump it up in priority.
- The Hunter by Tana French. | Goodreads | Amazon — This is a sequel to a book I read a couple of years ago, before I knew there was going to be a sequel. Obviously, I have to know what happens next in Cal’s world.
- The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne. | Goodreads | Amazon — I got a copy of the whole series from the publisher, and I’m hoping to love it because it contains a lot of my favorite elements and everyone has great things to say about it.
- A Tide of Black Steel by Anthony Ryan. | Goodreads | Amazon — Another book I got from the publisher featuring a Norse-inspired fantasy world, this one is an anticipated read.
- Season of Love by Helena Greer. | Goodreads | Amazon — This book made it onto a winter TBR last year, but I never got to it, and I think it would make a great Chanukah read.
Are any of these on your winter 2024-2025 TBR? Share a link to your list!

I didn’t look back on my fall TBR (I’m always “too scared” to see what I didn’t read) but I’m sure I didn’t read any. 😉 As usual, I’m drawn to the cheerful looking rom-com books, so Magical Meet Cute looks fun! Hope you enjoy reading all of these! 🙂

I’m such a big fan of Jean Meltzer – she writes such a great rom-com!

Do’t feel bad about your fall TBR. I only managed to read one book, started another, and two were DNF. Not quite the success for me.

I still need to read The Spellshop as well! The Adrienne Young book looks really good too! I have had her on my radar; it sounds like I need to read her!

I really love Adrienne Young’s books, so I’m anticipating both that and The Spellshop to be reads that I enjoy.

Magical Meet Cute was a fun story. You are a girl after my own heart. I think I make TBR lists just to make sure I don’t read any of those books. 😁

I got a signed copy of Magical Meet Cute, and am planning to read it over Chanukah. And I fully agree – I make TBR lists to ensure that the books stay unread.

I have had my eye on it since before it came out, and I’ve got no excuse why I haven’t read it yet.

I never seem to make these kinds of TBR lists- but most likely not going to reach my reading goal this yr (going to be either one or two short)
However, from your list interested in The Spellshop

I am looking forward to getting around to reading The Spellshop – I’ve seen a few people who didn’t love it, but cozy fantasy is my jam lately. I’m a huge fan of checking out a graphic novel or short story to reach my goals, especially if I’m short on time.

These look good. Emily Wilde is on my list. The Spellshop was an ok read for me. I took have a lot of books with deadlines so they are the ones that get done first leaving no time for anything else!
I hope that you manage to get some of them read!
Have a great week!

I feel you on that – I am more of a mood reader, but lately my TBRs are just designed to help me get on top of the ARCs I have to read. I can’t wait to get back to mood reading!

Not really sure that getting snow is lucky, not from this desert rat’s POV anyway! LOL And if you like Boudicca, you might look into A Year of Ravens – a bunch of interconnecting short stories by various authors that deal with Boudicca as well. I really enjoyed it.

We’ve got a couple overlaps: Emily Wilde and the Spellshop for sure, and quite likely Adrienne Young will make my TBR – I do tend to love her writing style.

I’m not surprised – I think the new Emily Wilde book is going to be a hit! I also love Adrienne Young’s writing style, and will be heartbroken if I don’t get my hands on an ARC.

All my friends seemed to love The Spellshop, so between that and the pretty cover, I can’t wait to own a copy to show off!

I do love ARCs but sometimes they do take over the reading. Magical Meet Cute looks like a good read. It’s nice to see you’re not giving up on it.

ARCs do have a terrible tendency to take over completely! But I am not giving up on Magical Meet Cute – I even have an autographed copy!

Shadow of the Gods is so good!! Love that series. I am so sad I didn’t get an ARC for the new Young book. I hope you enjoy the books you get to!

Thank you! I have yet to find a single person who has a negative thing to say about Shadow of the Gods. And I have a request out on NG for the new Young book, but haven’t gotten approved yet. So I’m going to have to just wait for it to be available at the library.

*Cough* we need to schedule a buddy read for The Familiar *cough* – No but really though, that seems like our kinda buddy read and I also have it on my TBR lol. I’ve heard some really good things about The Shadow of the Gods but haven’t read it myself yet. I hope you end up loving all these, Leah!

Ha ha. I never seem to read more than 1 or 2 books from my seasonal TBRs and sometimes not even that! Glad I’m not alone 🙂 I have read HERE ONE MOMENT, which I liked, although it’s definitely not my favorite of Moriarty’s. I also liked THE HUNTER. I hope you enjoy all these when/if you get to them.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
