State of the ARC

State Of The ARC #60

State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.

I finished January with 21 ARCs left to be read.

February is now over, and it was a wild ride. Here in New York, the cold weather and the snow have continued. The temps were so low and we got snow in record breaking amounts. This kind of winter is something I haven’t seen since I was young. Luckily, there are plenty of seasons of The Rookie to work through. My mother and I are almost done with season 4 and really love the show and all the characters.

For such a short month, it had some really big moments. We celebrated the seventh anniversary of my father’s passing with a lunch that we had sponsored for the temple congregation after Saturday morning services. Mom and I did plenty of reminiscing, and I made her a nice dinner for Valentine’s Day, since my father was a secret romantic and I didn’t want her to feel lonely. The month ended with airstrikes on the Islamic Regime in Iran and the death of Ayatollah Khamenei, which will hopefully lead to a regime change and a new freedom for the Iranian people and greater stability in the SWANA region.

Even with all the big and small events that went on in February, I still found time to read and review some of my ARCs. This is great, although I also went a little request happy and got approved for almost twice as many books as I reviewed. Luckily, there were some really great reads and I stayed on top of the release dates, so I currently don’t have any that are late being reviewed. My ratio went down from 96% to 95%, which is still fantastic, although I clearly have to stop requesting more books than I can handle.

Here’s how this month went for my NG ARCs:
