Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic is a Halloween freebie, so I decided to talk about a topic I can’t get enough of reading about, in all its many forms, whether that be history (non-fiction), historical fiction, fantasy, folklore, or romance.
Since I’m a huge wimp, I tend to avoid scary books like the plague. However, I still want to get involved in spooky season reads, so I try to find books involving witches. This week, I’m going to talk about ten books featuring witches that I’ve read or have on my TBR:
- The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow
- The Witch of Nightmares by Sarina Dorie
- The Lost Legends by Cait Marie
- Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
- The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
- A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
- Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman
- The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
- Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova
- Everyone Knows Your Mother is a Witch by Rivka Galchen
I’ve read the first 5, and can’t wait to read the last 5. Have you read these? What do you think?

I’m a wimp, too. I would probably only read a book about historical witches. Ha! My Halloween freebie

I like that I’ve found a bunch of books about witches that aren’t necessarily scary.

Oh, what a fun list. I haven’t read a book about a witch in ages.

I’ve heard so many great things about The Ex Hex – hopefully my library hold comes in sooner rather than later!

Lots of witchy witches on your list! 🙂 I have not watched Hocus Pocus, but it looks marvelous. And I haven’t read A Discovery of Witches, but I’ve watched that show and I liked it a lot.

I love Hocus Pocus – I watch it every year! And I’ve been waiting to watch the show until I read A Discovery of Witches.

I’m not much into witches, though I will say your picks this week have stunning covers.
Happy reading!

Yes! I’m a total sucker for a book with witches, so I’m loving your list this week. Weirdly, I haven’t read a single one of these. Definitely going to have to remedy that.

I haven’t read any of these yet, but I recently read Practical Magic and The Book of Magic, and I read The Rules of Magic a few years ago, but I still need to read Magic Lessons. I was super happy with how the series wrapped up. 🙂 Great post!

Thanks! I haven’t read any of the Practical Magic series! I figured I might as well start at the beginning though.
