May was one of the most stressful months that I can remember in a long time. We had to put one of my dogs to sleep, and another dog went into congestive heart failure the next week, followed by some major health issues for my mom resulting in a hospital visit for her. Fortunately she’s home and doing better, so the last week of the month was much less stressful. I got through it with the help of some truly amazing people and by escaping into some books. I read more books in this month than I’ve ever read before (47!). Here’s a quick rundown on my goals:
- My blog continues to grow, with 20 new followers bringing me to a total of 589. I’m so close to reaching my next goal of 600!
- I read 6 books that I own, although 5 of them were physical ARCs. I’ve been getting more physical ARCs sent to me, which is an unexpected benefit.
- I read 5 nonfiction books this month, two of which were outstanding.
- As far as diversity went, I was mainly focused on getting through some of the ARCs that were accumulating, but I did read books by Asian-American authors, Black authors, LGBTQ authors, Jewish American authors, and one Arab-American author. So I’d say that I still managed to do pretty well on this front.
