Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
This week’s topic was supposed to be favorite bookstores or bookstores I’d love to visit, but since I try not to buy too many books, I tend to avoid bookstores. It’s kind of like not going to a bar if you’re not going to drink. So instead, I want to talk about series that I’ve started reading but haven’t finished yet. Usually because I’m too busy reading ARCs or working my way through the books I already have checked out from the library, but hopefully I’ll be able to get to these soon.

- The Anna series by Kendare Blake. I only read the first book in this duology, but plan to read the second book soon.
- The Raybearer series by Jordan Ifueko. Again, I haven’t read the second book yet, and I loved the first book so much.
- The Gentleman Bastard series by Scott Lynch. It isn’t finished yet, but I’ve only read the first two books and they’re really good.
- The Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. So far I’ve read 6 books out of the 25 that are published (and counting), so I’ve still got a ways to go.
- The Temperance Brennan series by Kathy Reichs. Another long series, I’ve read 5 out of the 21 published books and find them so interesting.
- The Beasts of Prey series by Ayana Gray. The first book was so good, I can’t wait to read the sequel!
- These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan. I’m super excited for this sequel.
- The What If It’s Us series by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. I loved the first book so much and can’t wait to dive into the second.
- The Nsibidi Scripts by Nnedi Okorafor. I was blown away by how good this book was, and can’t wait to read more of the series!
- The Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore. I adore this series, and even though the books don’t fully overlap, I enjoy each of them and can’t wait to read more.
What are some series that you want to read more of?

I have the same problem trying to stick with series’ – those pesky ARCs always draw me in and my resolve crumbles and then I have stacks of them to get to. Sigh. I have the Locke Lamora series on my radar though I haven’t started it. I see you’ve got a series by Okorafor – I read Binti trilogy a couple years ago and just loved it. Didn’t think of looking for more books by her, but now I know…. Good luck on your goal!

I always start series and then stop for too long and then have to reread all the earlier books because I forgot what happened! And the Nsibidi series is fantastic (at least the first book)!

Unless it’s a review copy, I think I tend to be relatively bad at finishing series. Feel like I have several on my shelf now that I have one book left to read and just haven’t made the time. Hopefully someday! 🙂

I’m usually pretty good at staying on top of series, but there’s just so many that I’m in the middle of!

I love The Gentelman Bastard series! But I also still need to read the third book😂

I have book 3 on my shelf, but for some reason I just read through these books so slowly.

I need to finish reading The Merciless Ones by Namina Forna. And then eventually continue with Amari and the Night Brothers series. Oh, and Bloodmarked is coming out next month, which is the next book in the Legendborn series.

Ooooooh, The Merciless Ones is really good! And I have Legendborn on my shelf, but haven’t started it yet.

Interesting looking series. I haven’t read a series in a long time – too distracted by Blog Tour books! I know what you mean about avoiding bookshops. I just go in to windowshop. It helps when you have a 4 year old who doesn’t like shopping so you have to leave any shop pretty swiftly!
Have a great week!

Bringing an antsy kid to a bookshop is a great strategy! I am such a sucker for series.

I read the first ten or so of Kay Scarpetta and I’ve read a few of the Temperance Brennan series. I’m not sure if I’ll read the rest or not.

I’m determined to read more of them when I get the time.

Honestly, I get it. I avoid bookstores when my budget is tight, too. They are so tempting. Good for you for setting these sorts of boundaries for yourself.

The real struggle is not leaving the library with armfuls of books!

Wish I had kept with the Graceling series! So good!

I especially like that they aren’t exactly sequential, so I can just pick them up without having to reread the earlier books.

All of these look great. So many nice covers. I would really like to read all the books in Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series but it has a lot of books. I’ve read most of the books in the Tempe Crabtree series, but would like to finish that as well. I never finished The Lunar Chronicles either, so that’s on my list.
Thanks for sharing. Hope you get a chance to read the rest of these books.

The Lunar Chronicles is a good one! I’m always intimidated by super long series.

I could make a Top 100 list for this topic! LOL. I am caught up on the Reichs series, though. It’s one of my all-time favorites, so I always read the books as soon as they come out.
Happy TTT!

It’s such a good series! I’m glad to know it isn’t one of those that starts to follow a formula after a while.

Great list, Leah! I think the only one I’ve read, so need to catch up on, from this list is Beasts of Prey & I desperately want to read the sequel. I have had The Lies of Locke Lamora on my TBR for ages, and definitely intrigued to give that series a start 😀

Thank you! You absolutely should read The Lies of Locke Lamora – I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. And we should absolutely do a buddy read of the Beasts of Prey sequel, because didn’t we buddy read BoP?

We did! I’m not even sure if it’s out over here yet, I’ll have to check 😀

Maybe that can be our buddy read one of these upcoming months!

I’d love to finish the Graceling Realms series too. I’ve only read Graceling, Fire, and Bitterblue. They’re some of my favorite books and I’d love to read the newest two.
I have read both Anna Dressed in Blood books. I loved the duology so much. I will say, though, that the first one is my favorite! 😀

That’s about as far as I’ve gotten in the Graceling Realm but I really want to keep reading them. And the first Anna book blew my mind!
