State of the ARC

State Of The ARC #35

I finished December with 28 ARCs left to be read.

January is one of those months that I love. There’s a fresh feel to the start of a new year, and I’m partial to my birthday month. I’ve started feeling better, and getting back on top of my reading again. I got approved for a lot of books this month, but I also got a lot of reviews done. I’ve also discovered the joy of NetGalley audiobook ARCs, which are especially helpful to me. And while I got through almost as many ARCs as I got approved for, I also got approved for some that aren’t due as soon. So my plan of getting rid of some of this backlog and getting my ratio even higher is right on track, as long as I stop making any requests in February. Think I can do it?

I got approved for 14 new books in January:

  • Only If You’re Lucky by Stacy Willingham
  • City of Laughter by Temim Fruchter
  • Family Family by Laurie Frankel
  • The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna
  • Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books by Kirsten Miller
  • House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen
  • The Perfect Guy Doesn’t Exist by Sophie Gonzales
  • Lenny Marks Gets Away with Murder by Kerryn Mayne
  • Quick and Easy 400-Calorie Recipes by Dick Logue
  • What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher
  • The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo
  • The Sins on Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin
  • In the Shadow of the Greenbrier by Emily Matchar
  • Sounds Like a Plan by Paula Samuels Young & Dwayne Alexander Smith

  1. That’s so many ARCs!! I just got into Netgalley, and it’s great so far! Are most of these books ebooks or physical copies? I’ve been wanting physical ARC books for some time now, but I don’t know how to get them except for directly messaging the publisher!

    • These are all eARCs, and yes it’s a lot, I’m feeling overwhelmed by them. I do get some physical ARCs – a few publishers reached out to me, and sometimes authors will reach out and offer books, but reaching out to publishers directly is a great way to get physical ARCs!
