Monthly Wrap Up

Monthly Wrap Up February 2024

February was mainly devoted to taking care of two rowdy puppies that just turned 3 months old. And by taking care of, I mean cleaning up after. The rescue told us that they were chihuahua mixes based on the mom, but I think that mix was really diluted in these two, because they’re so much bigger than our chihuahuas, who only seem to like other chihuahuas. We’re getting a crash course in how different it is to raise bigger puppies than little ones, and let me tell you—it’s so different. But we love them so much already. I’ve been trying to stay on top of my reading, and didn’t do as much in February as I wanted to, but I can’t get mad because I had some serious puppy fever (and still do).

As far as the reading I did get to, I really enjoyed most of the books that I read. I got to some that I’ve really wanted to read, and did some reading for fun as well, which was one thing I wanted to focus on this year. Along with that, here are some more accomplishments that I had in February:

  • I’ve gained some new followers, and it’s so awesome to log in and see my blog grow and get to interact with some really cool new people.
  • I read less books than last month, but I lived more. I took a trip upstate with friends, and saw a local production of Fiddler on the Roof that was outstanding. I’m clearly still working on finding a balance for myself.
  • I still enjoy my nonfiction, having read 1 memoir and 1 short old Norse philosophy book.
  • There was 1 book I DNFd and don’t feel even a tiny bit bad.

Here’s my breakdown of monthly/cumulative totals for February:

  1. I love what you said about having read less in Feb but living more. It’s an attitude I’ve needed to take as well. I have so much FOMO when it comes to books I want to read, especially when discovering books from everyone else’s blogs, but I also have to remember to live life. Congratulations on your new puppies! They are adorable and I love their names!

    • I get FOMO too, but it’s only when I look back that I’m able to reframe and realize that I lived a lot more life in February, and that’s why I read so much less. And yes, I still haven’t read the new SJM book, or the new Red Rising book I got last summer, but I can look back and say that it’s because I was busy going to fairs and concerts and road trips! And cleaning up after my new pups. Thank you – even though they’re so much bigger than we planned for, we adore them.
