I finished July with 35 ARCs left to be read.
August feels like it went by in the blink of an eye, didn’t it? My finances took a big hit, with my car needing an expensive repair, 3 of my dogs needing vet visits, then my car needing another repair, thankfully not nearly as expensive. So obviously I’m not going to be buying very many books unless I can get my hands on some gift cards.
I know I say it all the time, but I really dislike summer. The heat hasn’t been my friend, the humidity has made it difficult to breathe, and I really try to avoid going outside unless I really need to on poor air quality days. I’ve also been struggling with some really bad fatigue, making it difficult to stay awake during the day, let alone focus on a book. I often find myself having to rewind an audiobook after falling asleep while listening, then realizing that I’m rereading chapters because I didn’t think to check where I was when I got sleepy. Anyone else do this?
My goal for every month recently has been to catch up on my overdue ARCs, and I did really well with it this month, getting through nearly all of the ARCs for the month, with the exception of two, and I’m currently reading one of them. But September and October are packed with upcoming release dates, so I need to stay focused and get through all of these ARCs.
I requested and got approved for a lot less books than I did in July. Instead of nineteen, in August, I managed to get that number lowered. Some of them have become my new auto-read authors and I couldn’t resist requesting and downloading them, while in others, they just sounded so good that I had to get them. At least one of these is an audiobook, and I’m trying to make sure that the ones I request aren’t being released right away, to give myself some time to get to them. My current ratio is up to 93%, and I ended the month with 1 less ARC than I did in July!
