State of the ARC

State Of The Arc #11

State of the ARC is a monthly meme temporarily hosted by Sarah at All The Book Blog Names Are Taken meant to motivate you to finish up your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies). This is its original intention, while some bloggers have tweaked it a bit for their own purposes, such as just keeping ARCs in order by due dates. Or you can just be a hot mess like me who sometimes misses publishing dates (or ignores them altogether) and needs a way to stay organized on what has been read, reviewed, or is still begging for attention. Thank you to Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books for coming up with this super helpful monthly meme.

I finished December with 12 ARCs left to be read.

In January, I got approved for 11 new ARCs, and so many of them were books I was really excited for. However, I didn’t read nearly as many ARCs as I was hoping to, although I did get through all the ARCs coming out in February. This makes me a month ahead, and I’m definitely planning to read more in February. My rating slipped a bit, going from 91% to 89%, but it’s still way above 80%.

I got approved for 11 new books in January:

  • Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman
  • This Rebel Heart by Katherine Locke
  • The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth
  • Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson
  • Violet Made of Thorns by Gina Chen
  • The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper
  • Misrule by Heather Walter
  • The Jade Setter of Janloon by Fonda Lee
  • A Tiny Upward Shove by Melissa Chadburn
  • The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich
  • Tear Down the Throne by Jennifer Estep

These are the ARCs that I read and reviewed, with links to my reviews:

  • Once More With Chutzpah by Haley Neil — see my review here.
  • Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson — see my review here.
  • Murder on the Menu by Fiona Leitch — see my review here.
  • The Dark Queens by Shelley Puhak — see my review here.
  • Ashes of Gold by J. Elle — see my review here.

Here are the ARCs I still have to read:

  1. One for Sorrow by Helen Fields
  2. The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
  3. Daughter by Kate McLaughlin
  4. The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich
  5. The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper
  6. Wild and Wicked Things by Francesca May
  7. This Rebel Heart by Katherine Locke
  8. The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth
  9. Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman
  10. A Tiny Upward Shove by Melissa Chadburn
  11. The Wild Girls by Phoebe Morgan
  12. The Jade Setter of Janloon by Fonda Lee
  13. Tear Down the Throne by Jennifer Estep
  14. Misrule by Heather Walter
  15. A Sprinkle in Time by Dana Mentink
  16. Home Field Advantage by Dahlia Adler

  1. I got approved for a bunch of ARCs at once and now have almost 20 to read. Not too overwhelming. lol Tear Down the Throne and As Seen on TV are two of them. And I just got approved today for The Daughter of Dr. Moreau and am super excited to read it!! I hope you enjoy all of your ARCs, Leah!
