Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
I know I’m not the only one to do this, but I have a terrible habit of collecting books and then … not reading them. They wind up sitting on my bookshelves watching me and judging as I plow through ARCs and library books like they aren’t a thought in the back of my mind. Fortunately, I’ve been working with a friend of mine to work through our backlist titles that we own and haven’t read yet. So I have managed to check off a few, but there’s a lot more that I have been dying to read and just haven’t gotten around to yet. Here’s the top ten on my shelves:

- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon — I got this book at least 3 years ago, and I’m more than a little intimidated by the length, even though I know it’s going to be worth it.
- Legendborn by Tracy Deonn — I got a gorgeous signed special edition of this the month it came out, but have not managed to start it.
- The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh — This is another book I got around 3 years ago, and can’t wait to read, but still haven’t gotten to it.
- Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin — Another one that I’ve owned for 3 years and haven’t managed to start.
- Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie — Despite the gorgeous signed special edition that I received the month it came out, I am ashamed to admit that it’s just sitting and looking beautiful on my shelves.
- Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim — Another signed special edition that I got the month it came out, yet haven’t found time to read.
- Star Daughter by Sheet Thakrar — Yep, you guessed it, yet another signed special edition that is just gracing my shelf.
- The Round House by Louise Erdrich — I got this at a library sale about 6 months ago, but have just been procrastinating this read.
- The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller — Special signed edition that looks beautiful, but hasn’t been opened since I got it the month it came out.
- Incendiary by Zoraida Córdova — Another signed special edition that I’ve had since the month it came out, and have been meaning to read. But haven’t for no identifiable reason.
What books were you thrilled to get but haven’t read yet?

Oh, gosh, yes! I can relate to never getting through so many of the books I own. It’s like Jana said in her opening, it’s a kind of sickness – we as bookworms tend to easily fall into the hype! 😀

It’s definitely a kind of sickness – I want to read them so badly and then just get them and put off reading indefinitely. What is wrong with us?!?!?! lol

I totally get that, I do the exact same thing! I will get so many books for birthdays and christmas etc. that I have been so excited to read but never get around to it. Some of my top books that I was excited to get but havent read yet would probably be The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, The Cruel Prince series by Holly Black and It ends with us by Colleen Hoover.
Great post!

I am completely the same. I get excited, buy a book then don’t read it as I go on Blog Tours then remember that I haven’t used the library in a while…
I was trying to work on my TBR pile this year, but it has been going badly. I think I’ve only ticked off a couple this year out of the 105 and I have added more than that because of my birthday! Nightmare!
Have a great week!

I’m in the same boat – and my library books have been sitting on the shelf in my house and I just keep renewing them lol.

😂🤣 I’ve been getting library books off the Libby app recently and if it is a popular book if you don’t finish within the 3 weeks you have to put in another hold request and wait for it to be your turn to borrow it again 🙄 technology is pushy 🤣😂

It is! I’m usually pretty good about finishing audiobooks quickly, thank goodness. Libby is awesome though, especially if it isn’t a popular book.

I only read Serpent & Dove from your list. But a few of these titles I don’t own yet, but are on my TBR, like Legendborn and The Shadows Between Us.

I have The Priory of the Orange Tree languishing on my Kindle as well. It’s one I intentionally bought in ebook so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed by its size!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

It’s such a long book, which doesn’t necessarily scare me, but I know it’s going to be a significant investment of time. I hope we love it, though.

I agree. And fantasy seems to take so much more brain power than other stuff. I’m sure we will though!

Many of the books on this list are on mine, too. That being said, “The Priory of the Orange Tree” was AMAZING! And, “Legendborn,” was better than I thought it would be!

I kind of like waiting to read series books until the sequel(s) are released – it lets me binge read!

Lots of pretty books! 🤩
I’ve been meaning to read the Priory of the Orange Tree because 1) spectacular cover 2) who can say no to dragon(s) 3) it’s a thick book.
I hope you enjoy them all when you read them!
