Book Challenges

I don’t know about you, but I like to participate in book challenges from time to time. This year, I found myself participating in three major yearlong challenges, and I had a lot of fun doing them. Each of them got me outside of my comfort zone, and forced me to read some books that I normally wouldn’t have read to complete some challenge prompts. One of the most fun challenges I did was the 12 in 12 challenge. For this one, I posted the blank sheet to Twitter and Instagram, and asked for a book suggestion from 12 friends. I read 11 out of the 12 that were recommended, and didn’t read the last one only because I was unable to access a copy of it through my library. Here’s the books that were recommended to me:

In fact, I had so much fun with this one, I’m going to be doing it again in 2023! Here’s the books that were suggested, and I’m so excited about them:

I also did the A to Z challenge. This involved reading a book that started with each of the letters of the alphabet, and it was actually a lot easier than I had expected it to be.

Finally, I did the 2022 PopSugar Reading Challenge. This one was surprisingly tough, and got me to make some big changes in my reading to fulfill some of the prompts. I’m definitely looking forward to doing it again in 2023. Here’s my completed list of prompts:

Did you participate in any book challenges this year? Are you planning on doing any in 2023?

  1. Ooo I like the thought of these challenges, especially the 12/12! All the challenges sound like a great way to discover new authors.
Find that most reading challenges I find force me to read genres I don’t like, these challenges stick with variety and I think that’s great!
I hope you enjoy them next year as much as you did this year x

  2. I challenged myself to read more books this year than I did last. So close! I read 15 in 2021, and right now I’m on my 15th book for 2022. Hope to finish that and start The Santa Suit next, wrapping it up before the end of the year.

  3. Well done on your reading! I made the same mistake I always do and took on too many reading challenges this year. Among others, I chose the Popsugar Reading Challenge this year too and finishing it is proving to be more challenging than I thought! I have less than ten books to go but finding the time to read them is challenging!

    • Thank you! Popsugar was a tough one! But I liked it, and I’m planning to do it again next year. I was worried about doing too many but this was just the right amount for me. Good luck on finishing yours this year!

  4. Wow! You rocked your challenges this year. The 12 Book one sounds fun. I might have to consider that one. POPSUGAR is one that is always a challenge for me to finish. It definitely expands my reading horizons every year, which is why I like it. I’ve still got 8 prompts left, so I doubt I’ll finish in time. Oh well. I enjoy reading challenges, but I never take them TOO seriously 🙂

    • Popsugar was definitely a challenge but I loved getting out of my comfort zone! And I loved the 12 in 12 especially because it’s people who knew me recommending the books. I fell short by 1 but I really enjoyed reading the books – it was more fun that anything so I’m not beating myself up if I didn’t get through everything. Looking forward to Popsugar 2023!
