Top Ten Tuesday used to be a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This is definitely something I can understand and want to participate in.
So I mixed up the prompts and did this week’s prompt last week, and last week’s prompt was too similar to a Friday Favorites post that I did recently, so I was kind of in a fix for this week’s TTT. Instead, I decided to revisit a previous prompt and talk about the 10 most disappointing denials I’ve gotten on NetGalley recently. This is one that I can always talk about because I’m the worst about enforcing a NetGalley requesting ban. Here’s the recent rejections that hurt me the most:

- Wrath Becomes Her by Aden Polydoros — can I just get approved for a single one of his books? Seriously? I get declined for every single one.
- To Have and To Heist by Sara Desai — I love her books, and was incredibly disappointed not to get this one.
- Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena — her mystery/thrillers are fantastic, and it was like a punch in the teeth to get denied.
- The Whispers by Ashley Audrain — I was overjoyed to see this on NG, and ready to cry when I got denied.
- The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda — I requested this right after finishing a different book by the same author, and was so hoping to get this. Alas, I did not.
- Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon — as a lover of RLS books, I was so prepared to get approved for this. My heart sank when I didn’t.
- The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren — for the love of all that’s holy, why can’t I ever get approved for a CL book?
- Margo Zimmerman Gets the Girl by Sara Waxelbaum and Brianna R. Shrum — NG ruined my whole day by denying me this book.
- Mrs. Nash’s Ashes by Sarah Adler — this one sounded like such a fun read, and I was miserable to hear that I wasn’t going to access an ARC.
- Happy Place by Emily Henry — another author I can’t get an ARC for no matter what I do. Are they expecting me to offer up a kidney?
What are some of your more recent NG rejections that hurt the most?

Sorry for the denials. I get denied by Berkley every single time, it’s a real bummer. For some reason I keep torturing myself and requesting from them. I got People we Meet on Vacation but not Happy Place. Good figure.

It happens to all of us, I really can’t expect all of my requests to be granted, right? But for some reason, Berkley is especially hard to get any ARCs from!

Though I’ve signed up I’ve never tried to get books on NetGalley. I can imagine it would feel bad to not get your requests. But put the titles on your TBR and check them out of the library when they are published. Still free!

That’s what I do, but there’s usually a really long wait list for a lot of them, so it kind of sucks, even though I don’t have a choice. And you should totally give NetGalley a try! I get so many great books that way.

And they have some of the best books too. Guess that’s why I keep torturing myself requesting them.

Oh, it does hurt when you get rejected, doesn’t it? Kiran Millwood Hargrave is one of my favourite authors and I have been declined time and time again! The Dance Tree, The Deathless Girls, The Mercies…
This was my list of favourite crime novels.

It does hurt! Especially when it’s a favorite author. It’s like … don’t they know we’re superfans?

Ah well, Netgalley! I have been rejected every single time for every request, so I won’t even go there. Wrath Becomes Her looks good, I’d have requested that one for sure too!

That’s how it is with Edelweiss for me – I’ve never gotten approved for anything. but I get approved for more than I get rejected, so I can’t really complain. I’m really excited for Wrath Becomes Her. Aden Polydoros is a fantastic writer.

I’m sorry you weren’t accepted for these books, Leah.

Lemme guess….are most of these published by Berkley? LOL I got rejected for Happy Place, too, but if a book is being published by Berkley I know to never get my hopes up.

Same! Berkley almost never approves me for anything, and I already know that if I request an Aden Polydoros book I’m going to be denied.

It’s funny how these rejections become so personal! But I do love Shari Lapena, so that would have gotten me, too.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

Right? I know it’s just an ARC, but it feels very personal! And Shari Lapena is an amazing author, so that one hit especially hard.

I was denied Happy Place as well! It sucks, but I know I’ll still read it this year, so I’m okay.

It seems like everyone has! I wonder who actually has gotten approved for Happy Place. I’ll eventually get my hands on a copy through the library once it isn’t in super high demand and on a 6 month wait list.

I was also rejected for Happy Place and was so bummed! Though to be fair, my feedback ratio has only been at 71% so I can see why *oops*

Mine has been in the mid 90s for months, so I have no idea why they denied me! I’m a model NetGalley member! *cries* I’ve yet to see anyone say they have gotten approved for it!

The dreaded NG rejection. Sigh. I have decided not to be upset about them anymore. It’s hard to do, though!

I try, but it’s so hard, especially when that email comes in and my hopes just shoot right up!

I don’t think I get NG rejection emails anymore. I must have turned it off. I don’t even notice unless I’m specifically looking in my not active section.

What a great TTT idea! Can I borrow it?

Thanks, I can’t take credit for this. I borrowed it from someone else, so I don’t see why you can’t borrow it as well!

I’ve always loved doing this post!! True Love and Happy Place were both declines for me and it HURT! I was approved for Henry’s first two and now that she’s blown up, I get declined. haha

I think I got this idea from you – so thanks for that! I always get declined for CLo and Emily Henry books, but I still try for them.

Haha, well yay! Haha. It’s a fun post! Yes, I always try too bc you never know!

We’ve all been there – I don’t get ones I think I’d be a shoe in for and then others I request thinking I don’t have a chance, and I get it. And yet I end up with more than I can keep up with sometimes. It’s a mystery.

Same! I can’t figure it out – sometimes I’ll get one that I think I have no chance of, and then I get denied for ones I think I’ll definitely get.
