I’ve really missed doing Friday Favorites, and since no one was currently hosting it, Cait @ Functionally Fictional decided to jump into the gap. Each week, she provides a prompt, and I get to talk about my favorite books that fit the topic. Feel free to join in – the more the merrier!
This week’s topic is sci-fi books, and when I first saw this prompt, the first thing I did was message Cait to ask her what she was thinking. I’m not usually a big fan of reading science fiction, preferring to stay firmly on the side of fantasy. However, when I filtered the books I’ve read by genre on Storygraph, I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had actually read more sci-fi than I thought. Most of these fall into the dystopian subgenre, but I’ll take it. Here’s some of my favorite sci-fi books:

- Red Rising by Pierce Brown
- Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
- The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter
- Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko
- Upgrade by Blake Crouch
- Dry by Jarrod and Neal Shusterman
- Scythe by Neal Shusterman
- Lakewood by Megan Giddings
- Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha
What are some that I might have missed?

It’s such a good series! I’m going to do a reread to prepare for the new book coming out soon.
