Friday Favorites – Sci-Fi Books

I’ve really missed doing Friday Favorites, and since no one was currently hosting it, Cait @ Functionally Fictional decided to jump into the gap. Each week, she provides a prompt, and I get to talk about my favorite books that fit the topic. Feel free to join in – the more the merrier!

This week’s topic is sci-fi books, and when I first saw this prompt, the first thing I did was message Cait to ask her what she was thinking. I’m not usually a big fan of reading science fiction, preferring to stay firmly on the side of fantasy. However, when I filtered the books I’ve read by genre on Storygraph, I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had actually read more sci-fi than I thought. Most of these fall into the dystopian subgenre, but I’ll take it. Here’s some of my favorite sci-fi books:

  1. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
  2. Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
  3. The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter
  4. Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko
  5. Upgrade by Blake Crouch
  6. Dry by Jarrod and Neal Shusterman
  7. Scythe by Neal Shusterman
  8. Lakewood by Megan Giddings
  9. Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha

What are some that I might have missed?
